Why?

Our hope is to make programming more diverse and give interested people the opportunity to be more engaged in the theatre.

CCB wants to involve the community in booking shows!

The Basics

  • The committee books and creates shows at CCB

  • The committee has 5 members:�3 members of the community + Noah & Josh

  • Community members are voted in for a 1 year term

  • The first committee will be voted on in June 2022 and begin their work in July 2022 (booking for August)

You could be on the committee if...

  • You are excited to engage with the CCB community on a deeper level

  • You are interested in actively participating in the theatre’s creative programming.

  • You are a member/former member of a CCB House Team OR have produced a show at CCB OR have completed at least Level 3 at The CCB Training School*

  • You are able to commit ca. 10 hours a month to programming

*You are not eligible if you are responsible for booking shows at other comedy theatres, to avoid a conflict of interest. You must also be vaccinated against COVID-19 (or have valid medical exemption).

Committee Tasks

  • Confirming regular shows

  • Identifying what needs to be booked

  • Booking & creating shows

    • Vetting/Fielding booking requests
    • Reaching out to producers/performers to create shows
    • Reach out to the community for show ideas
    • Creating show concepts and booking producers for the concepts
    • Creating and producing shows
    • Booking Indie Improv Showcase
    • Booking Jam hosts

  • Artist relations

    • Communication with performers, producers, house managers
    • Presence at shows when needed, especially for 1st time performers / producers and for out-of-town performers

  • Report for community meetings

  • Prepare next term’s committee selection

  • End of term knowledge transfer to incoming committee members

Feedback & Time commitment

Internal and external feedback

  • The committee will regularly reflect on its process: What’s working? What’s not working?

  • There will be occasional community meetings, where the community will give feedback.

Individual time commitment

  • Meetings* (weekday only - day or evening)
    • Primary meeting at start of month (longer)
    • Weekly follow up/update meetings (shorter)

  • Communication (emails, phone etc.)

  • Presence at the theatre for shows you’ve programmed

  • All in all ca. 10 hours per month

*Meetings will be held via video conferencing, with the potential for some meetings to be held in person depending on scheduling.

The Selection Process

  • If you are eligible and interested, please submit your name to the Committee to Form the Booking Committee by emailing booking@comedycafeberlin.com.

  • A Q&A/info meeting will be held on April 10th before the jam (online and in person): meet.google.com/sie-rvbv-sxk

  • An election will be held June 4th. The election will be hybrid (in-person at CCB and live-streamed via Google Meet: meet.google.com/xeb-zddt-jbj)

  • “Candidates” will be given a set amount of time to introduce themselves at the meeting prior to voting.

  • Anyone present (online or in-person) at the election meeting can vote

  • We will use an online poll and ranked choice voting to determine the top 3 vote-getters.
