What is FAFSA?

Who needs an FSA-ID (AKA: a fancy way to say “Username” and “Password”)?

Students

Parents

As a student, you need an FSA-ID in order to sign in to FAFSA!

Because you are more than likely a dependent, your parents need to complete an FSA-ID if they do not currently have one.

How to create your FSA-ID

5 of 8

After you create your FSA-ID...

  • Log on to californiacolleges.edu
  • Click “Sign in with Google”, and if it’s not working, create an account using your CNUSD email address
  • Go to “Financial Aid”, then “FAFSA”, then log in to the application like normal

These steps will help your counselors and your AVID teacher see if you have completed the FAFSA process!

Once you sign in through California Colleges and link to FAFSA, you can just sign in from FAFSA the rest of the time, no need to access CA Colleges each time.
