BAAR Studios
WHAT IS IT?
The app BAAR Studios is going to create is an app called “LocalLive” for students and residents of New Paltz to learn about the live music scene in the Hudson Valley but mainly focused on the bands local to New Paltz and bands that travel to New Paltz to play music. The app will feature all the upcoming live music in the area and close by. When there is a concert going on the app will tell you all about the location and scene. It will also tell the viewer all about the bands playing. Bands that play a lot in New Paltz will have their own personal page that tells the viewer about them and has their music readily available on their personal page. This will be helpful for anyone in the area to find out about shows going on and gives the viewer a chance to learn all about the band or artist playing.
WHAT WE HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH?
This app would be useful for advertising local bands to gain their popularity
This app would help students find things to do on the weekends
This app will help people on a hyper-local scale (Events in New Paltz), as well as a broader local scale (Events in other parts of the state/out of state)
This app will give you a chance to learn all about the local bands
You can RSVP to events on the app
You can follow bands and performers on the app to get notified when they are playing
WHO IS THE AUDIENCE?
PROBLEMS?
How can we get local bands/venues to update the app?
How can we constantly keep updating for shows that get announced the week of?
How can we get users to use all the app features?
How can we get small bands to meet with us, so we have info/bios on them?

RESEARCH – SITE VISIT: BACCHUS RESTAURANT, BREWERY & BILLIARDS
Overview-
Bacchus is a small restaurant/bar in New Paltz, New York, that acts mainly as a restaurant and billiards room during the day and at night it turns into more of a bar scene. Bacchus is on the smaller side but seems to still pull in a decent sized crowd that will fill up the standing space during the night time.
Main Features-
-Wide food options during the day
-Wide beer and cocktail menu during the day and night
-Very friendly bar and wait staff that help make recommendations
-Live music almost every Friday and Saturday
-Big bar to fit many people
-a lot of seating available during the day
-Beautiful decorations and lighting
-well put together website to get information
-Big billiards room to fit many groups playing pool at once
-Billiards room is separated from the rest of the restaurant/bar space
-Big outside seating open during the day and night with tables that have umbrellas
-Drink and food specials daily
Atmosphere-
-Typical restaurant with high quality food during the day, filled with all different ages and people, family friendly during the day
-minimal people just getting drinks at the bar during the day
-minimal people playing pool during the day
-day time seems to be casual place to eat some lunch/dinner
-Around 9pm Bacchus turns into a bar only and atmosphere changes
-Mid to late 20s at the bar at night
-Weekdays are pretty relaxed with not to many people at the bar but mainly people sitting and talking or playing pool
-Friday and Saturday gets very busy due to the live music
-When live music is there it seems to be split 50/50 between people standing/dancing next to the band and the other half sitting at the bar and talking or outside on the
