The 13 English Colonies

• You are a colonial advertiser in the 1700s trying to convince families in England to settle in one of the three regions:
• New England Colonies
• Middle Colonies
• Southern Colonies
• Create a tri-fold brochure that promotes your region using historical facts, persuasive language, and creative visuals.

What to Include

• Region Overview
• Name your chosen region (New England, Middle, or Southern)
• List the colonies within that region
• Describe the climate: hot, cold, mild, humid, snowy?
• Include a labeled map showing your region clearly highlighted

• Economy & Jobs
• What kind of jobs can settlers expect to find?
• What are the region’s main economic activities? (farming, shipbuilding, trade, plantations, etc.)

• Mercantilism & Trade
• What raw materials does your region export to England?
• How does this system benefit England?

• Why Should People Come to Your Colony?
• Create at least three persuasive reasons why people should move to your region
• Think about opportunities, land, resources, trade, safety, or freedom
• Use positive, convincing language to promote your colony

• Include headings, color, and eye-catching visuals
• Make it look like a real colonial advertisement brochure
