HOMEWORK

2 of 8

Second grade is a fun year where we focus on standards and skills as well as becoming a more independent and mature student. I believe students can grow to be much more self-sufficient this year.

In the beginning, we walk through activities together. As the year goes on, we slowly complete activities on our own successfully. Our goal is to be prepared for the big jump in independence when we move on to third grade.

Please arrive to school on time each day wearing a uniform. If you are ill, you can call the school office at (714)564-2900 right away to provide the excuse for the computer attendance program.

Let’s have a wonderful year!

  • Once the year gets going, we will usually have 2 homework assignments a night.
  • Second graders are expected to have 25 minutes of homework. If they have extra time, they can read.
  • Marble jar - We fill this everyday as a reward when students are on time, wear a uniform, and complete their homework. When it fills up, students get a night off of no homework. This usually happens every 3-4 weeks.
  • Behavior Chart - Please look at it in the folder to see how your child is doing
