STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK PREDOMINANTLY DIVERSE INSTITUTION (PDI Fund) FUND PROPOSAL

To create a Predominantly Diverse Institution Fund (PDI Fund) for the support of institutions serving the highest percentages of students of color. (51% or 51% incoming class)

  • NEED: Several factors contribute to the lower retention rates for nonwhite students. These include financial barriers, a lack of academic support, and a lack of belonging or connection to the institution. Nonwhite students may also face discrimination or microaggressions that make it more challenging to succeed in college.
  • PDI Fund would provide funding for 1. student recruitment, retention, and success, 2. faculty and staff recruitment and retention, 3. marketing and branding, 4. infrastructural support, and 5. support for a PDI Caucus.
