Research Informants

Base on data research there are different perspectives between youth and perents on agriculture. A profession capable of fulfilling daily needs. Furthermore, farmers are at the forefront of food needs in Indonesia. The older generation has a fairly good understanding of the position of agriculture in Indonesia. The younger generation considers that farmers are dirty, untidy, and prestige when they work as farmers. The farming professional is only done by old people. Farming is not one of the main profession choices.

Farmer regeneration in the midst of pandemic

According to ben white (2012) the regeneration of farmers can be realized by reconstructing the perspective of the community, especially village youth regarding the future of farmers in the structural community.

The young generation of the Sempor community still have a negative perspective on farmers. Job for old people, not contemporary, and not prestigious.

. Socially, farming does not show a high social class or respect for the younger generation

. Economically, farming is a job that is not profitable. In fact farming is a resilient profession as it is now

When the pandemic condition haunts the world community which causes the economic sector to be disrtupted, farmers are able to survive and even support the lives of the Indonesian people. It is true what Ben white said that in order to regenerate farmers, the main step is to reconstruct the perspective of the youth which has been focusing on negative impact than positive impact. Not only the younger generation, the older generation also needs to support the process this reconstruction.
