Partnership Aim

Biggest Accomplishment

To increase the number of local students using GLOBE protocols and activities to monitor the environment and conduct authentic environmental investigations.

To accomplish this we:

  • conduct an elementary and a secondary level GLOBE teacher/informal educator workshop each year,
  • provide assistance and use of equipment to local teachers who implement GLOBE at their sites,
  • use GLOBE protocols and activities in our student field trip offerings, and
  • are working to restart collaboration with our local elementary after school program

Successfully conducted 3 hybrid GLOBE educator workshops during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Collaboration Interests

Resources

  • Exploring ways to encourage some of the other 29 National Estuarine Research Reserves to implement GLOBE in their education programs
  • Sharing successes with other informal programs regarding GLOBE implementation
  • Exploring possible new GLOBE ocean protocols such as identifying plankton and learning more about joining the plastics in the ocean pilot program
  • Exploring effective ways to network GLOBE classes around the US and world
