Promote a collaborative academic culture where confident and creative risk takers bring voice to their passions, think deeply about what they are learning, solve problems in increasingly sophisticated ways, and communicate what they know and can do through a wide range of performance tasks and assessments that occur within and beyond the classroom.

Cultivate learning environments that equip students of all ages with the skills and habits of mind to develop resilience and perseverance; engage others bravely, confidently, and respectfully; grow from setbacks; understand the importance of community; and develop empathy for the diversity of human experience.

Foster student understanding of interdependence, and nurture self-efficacy and agency to make an impact in the world; elevate the inquiry approach as a means for continuous improvement and innovation in programs, curriculum, instruction, and professional learning; and establish, enhance and/or refine our practices and approaches in facilities, finance, operations, and partnerships to ensure long-term sustainability.

Collaborative, Future-Oriented Academic Culture

Goal: Promote a collaborative academic culture where confident and creative risk takers bring voice to their passions, think deeply about what they are learning, solve problems in increasingly sophisticated ways, and communicate what they know and can do through a wide range of performance tasks and assessments that occur within and beyond the classroom.

Key Action Areas - Recent, Current, Ongoing

Monitor, assess, and adjust key implementations- Reveal Math, Units of Study, Science Units.

Assess our current Special Ed continuum of services to:

  • identify priorities for enhancements and expansion;
  • increase the range of students with access to the curriculum within the least restrictive environment;
  • focus on transition services and opportunities for students with disabilities on non-traditional post-secondary tracks.

Articulate and implement assured learning experiences that support student development of the Scarsdale Digital Competencies.

Expand the application of tools and techniques that enable differentiated instruction to support all learners to meet their potential.

Identify and implement next steps to further the Scarsdale High School Profile of Graduate.

Develop a Profile of a Learner for our elementary schools and middle school, as well as a profile of a Scarsdale educator.

Elevate habits of mind, critical thinking, problem solving through emphasis on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning, and performance-based assessments

Review existing experiential and collaborative learning programs opportunities to identify approaches transferable to all classrooms (i.e., Choice, A School).

Educational Environments that Promote Wellbeing, Belonging, and Resilience.

Goal: Cultivate learning environments that equip students of all ages with the skills and habits of mind to develop resilience and perseverance; engage others bravely, confidently, and respectfully; grow from setbacks; understand the importance of community; and develop empathy for the diversity of human experience.

Key Action Areas - Recent, Current, Ongoing

Develop and implement goals responsive to the Belonging Survey in the context of Developmental Relationships.

Implement the Responsive Classroom approach K-5, and develop school-wide agreements in all elementary schools.

Monitor, assess, and adjust the implementation of Keystone advisory and Community Council at SMS.

Articulate, develop, and implement assured SEL experiences 6-12.

Implement the District Comprehensive Approach to mental health to support, equip, and empower our students K-12 to grow their wellbeing and resilience.

Develop a plan to embed strategies and approaches for brave conversations and civil discourse across grades and schools.

Commitment to Inquiry, Interdependence, and Innovation

Goal: Foster student understanding of interdependence, and nurture self-efficacy and agency to make an impact in the world; elevate the inquiry approach as a means for continuous improvement and innovation in programs, curriculum, instruction, and professional learning; and establish, enhance and/or refine our practices and approaches in facilities, finance, operations, and partnerships to ensure long-term sustainability.

Key Action Areas - Recent, Current, Ongoing

Relaunch the CFI as the Community of Inquiry and Innovation to aid in the pursuit of inquiry.

Conduct a joint Field Study with the Village and use the results to identify a prioritized plan for improvements responsive to our stakeholders needs.

Embed global learning opportunities by growing and leveraging our local and international partnerships and programs.

Complete a transportation study and a fleet electrification study in order to develop priorities and a responsible plan to transition to electric vehicles.

Key Action Areas - Emerging, Under Development

Develop and implement a long term financial plan and fund balance guidelines.

Establish a timeline and implement a process for identifying and evaluating capital project priorities for the potential issuance of bonds to coincide with the reduction in debt service during the 2027-28 fiscal year.

Develop a collaborative process for exploring and evaluating potential sustainable energy investments for district facilities to coincide with the debt service fall off.
