Audio Visual Options
Ask a hybrid club if you can borrow their equipment and/or potentially use their venue. Alternatively, find a venue that has a hybrid conferencing room - even a small conference room that has reasonable space for a speaker will be suitable for an Area Contest with a restricted in person audience.
Option 1: Integrated Camera/Speaker system that can pick up and transfer sound from the physical room and the virtual room Example 1 Example 2
District Equipment includes this Conference Phone and Two Tripods, used with smartphones on the tripods for visual input.
Option 2: A separate device e.g. an smartphone on a tripod, a laptop on a stool etc. This will provide visual. To improve the sound, a simple home speaker that can be connected to a laptop will improve the audio output from the online room. To improve the audio input from the speaker, wireless headphones without noise cancelling could be used but will great delay between going back and forth with the Contest Chair/Contestants and other people speaking during the event.
This option will provide very average sound quality but is simple to set up. It could be an option if limited in person contestants and judges are taking part. The set up for the Chief Judge to be visually viewing the contest from the room but listening via personal headset device could also be replicated if the in person attendees bring personal laptops/phones and headsets.
For improved sound quality
From in person speaker to online audience: Use one of the options on slide 3 as your camera and speaker only in zoom on laptop 1. However connect one of the following lapel mic options to laptop 1 and set it as mic input only on laptop 1.
From online speaker to in person audience: Utilise one of the additional laptops to output sound from the online audience into the room via a bluetooth speaker. Many common home speaker devices will give out enough sound quality for a smaller size audience.
