What is the TWIST program?

  • The objective is to provide active and challenging technical experiences for teachers in an industrial setting. TWIST is based on the idea that the way to learn science is to do science.

My summer projects:

  1. Particle collection in areas of the Hollow Fiber Manufacturing (HFM) facility.

  • Investigation into Shrinkage patterns of Hollow Fiber material at various temperatures through the use of an Automatic Shrinkage Test (AST).

  • Collection of data was done with Apex Z3 Airborne particle counter

  • 15 sec delay
  • 1 minute sample collected
  • 8 sec rest interval
  • 1 minute sample collected
  • Particle size samples collected in micrometers (µm)
  • .3 µm
  • .5 µm
  • 1 µm
  • 5 µm
  • 10 µm
