What is SUNY?

The State University of New York...was created out of a commitment to opportunity and access, and designed to meet diverse needs across a vast geographic landscape. (It) is the largest comprehensive university system in the United States. Our impact in New York State and across the globe begins with our 64 institutions, including research universities, academic medical centers, liberal arts colleges, community colleges, colleges of technology and an online learning network. How much does SUNY cost?

These are the costs you will be billed for and owe directly to the school.

These are the costs that you will not be billed for, but you will be paying for out of pocket.

Commuting students will not be charged for dorms, but may have the option to enroll in a meal plan. Hence the $3,940

Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)

“The State University of New York's Educational Opportunity Program provides access, academic support and financial aid to students who show promise for succeeding in college but who may not have otherwise been offered admission.

Program requirements:

  • Must be a NYS resident for 12 months (and an American citizen to receive financial assistance)
  • Must meet income requirements and will have to submit financial documentation to prove income.
  • Must fall within the GPA/SAT range (if you have grades above the average GPA/SAT, do not apply EOP)
  • Must agree to attend any pre-college/summer-prep program and any follow-up EOP meetings
