1 Now when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will send them at once.”

4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying,
5 “Say to the daughter of Zion,�‘Behold, your king is coming to you,� humble, and mounted on a donkey,� on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’”

6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them. 8 Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” 10 And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?” 11 And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.”
Hosanna?
Hebrew word
words yasha (“deliver, save”) and anna (“beg, beseech”) combine to form the word that, in English, is “hosanna.”
hosanna means “I beg you to save!” or “please deliver us!”
root words are found in Psalm 118:25, which says, “Save us, we pray, O LORD!” (ESV).

12 The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. 13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” 14 And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written,
15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion;�behold, your king is coming,� sitting on a donkey's colt!”

16 His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him.

17 The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness. 18 The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign. 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, the world has gone after him.”
Palm Branches?
Palm branches were a symbol of triumph and victory in ancient Jewish culture.
2 Kings 9
6 Jehu got up and went into the house. Then the prophet poured the oil on Jehu’s head and declared, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anoint you king over the Lord’s people Israel…….
11 When Jehu went out to his fellow officers, one of them asked him, “Is everything all right? Why did this maniac come to you?”
2 Kings 9
“You know the man and the sort of things he says,” Jehu replied.
12 “That’s not true!” they said. “Tell us.”
Jehu said, “Here is what he told me: ‘This is what the Lord says: I anoint you king over Israel.’”
13 They quickly took their cloaks and spread them under him on the bare steps. Then they blew the trumpet and shouted, “Jehu is king!”
Revelation 7:9
9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.
This triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem is a coronation of a King as well as victory parade proclaiming the good news of a conquering King returning home to further establish His Kingdom.
Isaiah 52:7
7 How beautiful upon the mountains� are the feet of him who brings good news,�who publishes peace,
who brings good news of happiness,� who publishes salvation,� who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”
Mark 1
14 After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15 “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”
Euangelion - Good News
Gospel (Noun and Verb: to Preach):
originally denoted a reward for good tidings; later, the idea of reward dropped, and the word stood for "the good news" itself. The Eng. word "gospel," i.e. "good message," is the equivalent of euangelion

Jesus is the reigning King
We don’t like, nor understand, what it is to have a King, to be his subject.
Bad Kings and Good King
(Benevolent - purpose of doing good)
Jesus entering our lives as King should cause us to have a change of understanding and behaving. “Repent”
Implication of Jesus as King of our Lives?
Five attributes of God
Omnipotence (All-powerful): God has supreme power and can do anything that is consistent with His nature.
Usage: "Nothing is impossible for God," signifying his power over creation.
Synonyms: Almighty, supreme power, omnipotent.
Omniscience (All-knowing): God knows all things—past, present, and future—perfectly.
Usage: "God is aware of every language and every people," indicating complete knowledge.
Synonyms: All-knowing, all-wise, omniscient.
Omnipresence (Everywhere-present): God is not limited by space and is fully present in all places at all times.
Usage: "His presence in every nation," shows he is not confined to one location.
Synonyms: ever-present, everywhere.
Immutability (Unchanging): God is unchanging in his character, nature, and purposes.
Usage: "God remains the same," highlighting his consistency, as noted in Open the Bible.
Synonyms: Unchangeable, constant, immutable, steadfast.
Sovereignty (Supreme Ruler): God has the authority and power to do as He pleases.
Usage: "He is above all things and has power over all things," emphasizing his role as King of kings, as explained in Sarah Titus.
Synonyms: Supreme Ruler, Sovereign, King.
