RECOGNITIONS

Thank you to students, staff, and administrators for all of your hard work planning for, implementing, and taking the MCAS tests these past few weeks.

MCAS is an incredible amount of work for everyone involved, and I appreciate the teachers’ and administrators’ efforts to academically and emotionally prepare our students for test taking.

Our third graders were asked to write THREE essays in a single day, for example, and they approached the task with determination. Our students do so well because they work so hard.

EQUITY AUDIT

Purpose:

To develop a comprehensive report that will be shared with the School Administration along with an action plan to improve the staff, student, and family experiences.

The survey, created by our consultant Promoting Good, will go to students, families, faculty and staff members soon!

The survey is "smart," meaning that it is tailored to each stakeholder’s unique role in the school district.

Fourth graders are doing a guided inquiry unit around the National Parks in Social Studies (fourth grade curriculum includes learning about regions of the United States).

This leads to opinion writing where they will convince the school which park should be the name of the new fifth grade National Park team for next year!

Today was the culmination of Elmwood’s annual March Madness.

Kids waited with bated breath for the bid reveal.

This year’s winning text was Yoshi, Sea Turtle Genius.

Kids were still talking about non-fiction texts as they boarded their buses today. What joy!

Kindergartners are collaging like Eric Carle while exploring the natural world and writing their own stories!

Students completed an Eric Carle author study and painted then created characters using the collage method that Eric Carle is famous for.
