These are all VERY NORMAL worries and we are all here to help you!

What I wish I knew...

“To always be myself and not try to please others. After all, you only get a 6th grade year once.” - Giavanna Riga

“The Lakeside family is very welcoming and understanding. Don’t stress if you can’t open your locker the first few times. It takes practice. Ask a teacher/staff member or someone in a higher grade. Keep your locker and books organized so you can find everything in a timely manner. It’s not always worth it to get decorations, but one thing that is, is the shelving things.” - Keira Durkin

“There is nothing to be scared of. All of the staff, teachers, and students were very helpful and understanding.” - Giana Petta

“Homework and exams are going to be a bit lengthy.” - Hanan Hasouneh

“How fun changing classes would be. I was afraid I would be late for every class; it turned out, I had more than enough time...when changing classes, you’ll meet so many different people. You’ll also make friendships with people you never even knew before you came to Lakeside.” - Bridget Leahy

“Don’t worry so much.” - JoAnn Hodgkiss

“It is not scary and it’s very welcoming.” - Janine Kehoe

“I didn’t need to have a good ‘style’ to fit it...I was more focused on that than school.” - Melina Ortiz

Advice from Past Students...

“Do your homework on time! Points get deducted every time they are late and it brings your grade down easily. Don’t rush assignments; take your time!” - Hanan Hasouneh

“Make friends, join clubs!” - Keira Durkin

“Have your notes and folders organized.” - Janine Kehoe

“There are going to be challenges along the way and that’s okay because life isn’t perfect - it’s a bumpy road. You want to be respectful and kind to one another and treat everyone how you would want to be treated.” - Giana Petta

“You don’t have to be cool - everyone will love to have you in Lakeside! You are going to do great!” - Melina Ortiz

“Have FUN! Time flies - enjoy your middle school experience.” - Bridget Leahy

“If you’re overwhelmed, try some mindfulness techniques. Listen to your favorite music and if you need help, reach out to someone.” - JoAnn Hodgkiss

“Don’t be scared to raise your hand and ask for help. Pay attention. CHARGE YOUR CHROMEBOOK! Don’t procrastinate. Don’t go to bed too late. Gym and PA are just as important as your other classes. Get in missing assignments ASAP. Use deodorant! - Julianna Diaco
