Spectrum Task assignments

  • Team members are encouraged to work in multiple areas of the team and not solely focus on one area.
  • Well rounded team members will have experience in many of these task categories

Build

  • Learning to use hand and power tools.
  • Learning to operate computer controlled tools (CNC)
    • CNC Router, Laser Cutter, & 3D printers
  • Organizing and managing the shop and equipment
  • Assembling the robot and maintaining it
  • Building the practice field elements each year

Design

  • Learning to use CAD software to design parts of the robot and other items for the team
  • Learning the concepts and principles that allow the robot function properly
  • Testing and improving the robot
  • Learn many practical aspects of mechanical engineering

Controls

  • Understand, construct, and maintain the control system of the robot.
    • Electrical and robot controller (computer)
  • Understand, construct, and maintain the pneumatic (compressed air) system of the robot.
  • Program the robot to accomplish our objectives in matches

Strategy

  • Determines what we prioritize each season
  • Determines how we play each match during the season
  • Collect data on all the robots at an event to determine how well each team plays the game
  • Builds and maintains a scouting system to allow us to do the above
  • Monitors matches from around the world for new or different strategies each season
