2 of 4

What are diphthongs?

Diphthongs are a type of vowel sound in which the tongue glides from one position to another within a single syllable.

They are considered to be a combination of two vowel sounds. In a diphthong, the sound starts at one vowel and moves toward another vowel within the same syllable.
