Astrological explication of psychological types

How I am put together

Symbols and the Psyche

Symbols are the best possible expression for something unknown in the psyche.

Aspect patterns in the horoscope are formed by planets in aspect to one another and form a picture or image.

Aspect patterns as an image point to the known or knowable psychic factors in the personal and collective unconscious of the person.

Symbols in the horoscope

Symbols derive from personal complexes.

These can be identified in the horoscope by aspect patterns which motivate the person to behave in a certain way. They are hidden transformers and can impress upon the person an image which directs him/her to a larger goal.

Archetypes and symbols

Archetypes are symbols from the collective unconscious. They form the basis of instinctual images or motifs that are universal in nature. They are expressed in the horoscope by shaping.

Aspect patterns and the known psyche

As a libido analogue the symbol is a transformer of energy by forming an image and canalizing the symbol into a new form.

We have translated this new form of expression of a symbol through the aspect pattern in the horoscope.

Use this horoscope as an example.

  • Triangles
  • Quadrangular- John’s chart is having triangles, linear and quadrangular shapes so it’s a mixed shaping.
  • Linear
  • Mixed

Sizes of Aspect Patterns

  • Small- taking up only a small part of the circle.
  • Large encompassing the whole chart and over the empty point (in the middle) symbolizes the immortal soul that lives in eternity , the higher self. John’s Double ambivalance figure with quincunx is a large aspect pattern. It is assymetrical.

Position, Emphasis and Direction

  • Horizontal Direction- consciousness is mainly concerned with the ego and you. Such a person is always oriented toward the other and often has trouble acting independently. He/she must have someone devoted to him/her who gives him/her approval and devotion. This also indicates a profession that brings him/her in contact with other people.

Position, Emphasis and Direction (cont)

  • Vertical Direction- Aspects primarily vertical along the meridian line, person is independent. Markedly individualistic. Person is interested in her own self development and people can get in the way in long term relationships.

  • When the aspect pattern lies in the bottom of the chart, it means the person is interested in belonging mainly to the collective; the family, the institution, the team or the nation.
  • When the aspect pattern lies in the left side, then all experiences are related to the person's ego and self.
  • A right position means a tuning into others needs and a tendency to do what others want.
  • In the upper part the person wants to be free to get ahead and fulfill himself professionally.

Coherence/ Divided

  • A closed aspect structure directs consciousness to make synthesis and wholes out of disparate parts. A comprehensive thinking method is used. John’s figure is coherent, both horizontal and vertical and spread out throughout the circle.
  • A divided aspect pattern means a person is wired by two diagrams of consciousness. The person act differently in two separate areas of life.

Unaspected planet

  • If a planet is unaspected, it is out of the realm of consciousness, not part of the circuit and therefore, causes problems. Usually one has to compensate for what is lacking in the personality by constellating the energies of that planet from the environment. John’s Saturn receives no aspects from any other planet which results in an effort to find security by taking in all knowledge (ninth house Saturn).

Tension ruler

  • If one planet lies opposite the others which are in a grouping, it is called a singleton and dominates all the others; it imposes its influences on them.

Aspect pattern colouring

  • Red- Energy is increased. The person enjoys any kind of activity , random or purposeful. The important thing is that something is happening. Tension and energy has to be gotten rid of. Person takes on difficult tasks, takes risks, and is intense. Overpowers other people. People shrink from him because he shines too brightly.

Aspect pattern colouring

  • Blue- Here there is a lot of matter and not a lot of energy to transform it. Idleness and indolence waiting for things to fall into one's lap. Need people to help them. Inner listlessness can lead to illness, depression and lethargy if he/she does not feel the need to fight for changes.

Aspect colouring

  • Green- can lead to inner insecurity and yearning for unattainable. Adapts willingly to his environment and can be led. Indecisiveness can be the hallmark of consciousness. Are constantly evaluating things and do not stick to existing rules. Can lead to certain sensitivity or to instability.

Aspect counting

  • Normal ratio of the colours: 1:2:3. For example 2 green , 4 red, and 6 blue. An aspect pattern should contain a minority of green, some red and a majority of blue. If there is an imbalance look at 3 previous slides to see the predominate personality pattern.
  • John’s chart is a red chart since this color is in preponderance.

Two Colored

  • Red and blue- indicates a strong fluctuation between achievement and enjoyment. Activity and passivity alternate according to mood. Causes bipolar back and forth movement.
  • Red and Green- People absorbed in conflict between reward and punishment, guilt and atonement. Conflict results from the opposition until the situation blows over.

Two coloured

  • Red and Green (cont)- Creativity is the solution between these opposites. Can be diplomatic and achieve an end with sensitivity to opposing sides.
  • Blue and Green- Not assertive enough and are not high fliers. Cannot set performance benchmarks. External demands are relatively ineffective and make no impression on them.

Two colours

  • Blue and Green (cont)- Loving and caring professions where taking care of others and patience is called for. Pressure to do well can be a threat and avoid conflict that this creates . They can become addicts to escape these conflicts.

Missing colours

  • Red- Sentimental , sensitive and often unstable
  • Blue- Cannot relax and exudes great agitation. Can burn himself out.
  • Green- Not possible to argue with this person. Only sees two sides of a problem.

All three colours

  • Learning figures with developmental potential; has a strong impulse to grow. Present themselves with incentives to learn through a conflict and its resolution leading to new insights. John’s chart has all three colors.

The figures of one colour

  • Single coloured Red- Achievement square, Achievement triangle. John’s chart has two achievement squares.
  • Single coloured Blue- Large talent triangle, Small talent triangle,

Achievement Triangle figure

  • These people should complete work quickly and completely so they can rest afterwards. After a short break , he can go back to work with renewed vigor. Someone with this figure can work like mad and when he is ready can move onto the next job quickly and assertively, renewed with energy. The planet on the apex absorbs and releases the tension from the inner conflict and directs it toward achievement of a goal.

Large Talent Triangle figure

  • A talent or accomplished ability indicated by varied experiences and pervading and forming the personality. Abundance and perfection of energy can make these people look down on others without being able to say exactly what they are proud of. They even get mad if they are told the effect they have on others. Being able to do many things easily gives self-confidence and self-certainty. There needs to be a balance between perfectionism, pleasure seeking and obsessive behavior.

Small talent triangle

  • Shows still developing talent in which growth is achieved by adapting as far as possible without stress to enjoy this subject of life area as befits their element. The appropriate properties are developed gradually into a distinctive and specialized talent and are formed during the first course of life. Usually knowledge and skill are constantly accumulated by calmly absorbing experiences into consciousness not through active exertion and hard work.

Double coloured figures

  • Red and Blue- Single ambivalence, Double ambivalence, Righteousness rectangle, Kite, Cradle, john’s chart has two ambivalence triangles forming a square
  • Red and Green- stimulation triangle, Stimulus rectangle,
  • Blue and Green- (Escapist) Search, Projection, Eye,

Ambivalence triangle- red and blue

  • One is caught between and ideal world of harmony, relaxation and pleasure vs. one of tension, pressure and conflict. This creates ambivalence which indicates a kind of switch point for the opposing worlds. And one has a tendency to see the world in dualistic terms, in black and white. The correct management of these ambivalent energies concerns with application of the beauty and goodness side.

Stimulus Triangle Figure -green and red

  • Needs constant movement and stimulating activity. There are shorter or longer periods of hectic overexertion. Energy is looking for a way to resolve the tension of opposing pressures. Painfully aware of a need for liberation of tension as a desperate longing. Sudden bursts of anger can result from external pressures. Flexibility and adaptation allow these people to be evasive and quickly make up for damage caused or hurt feelings.

  • Search figure- Intelligence is a priority to deal with the sensitivity of this type. They have a strong motivation to work for the truth and make wise decisions. They can wait patiently until success comes of its own accord. They work continuously with the same dedication as with the start of a project and know everything takes time. They are adaptable, gentle , searching and shy.

Three coloured

  • Red, green and blue (learning)- Double Ambivalence with quincunx, Learning and development triangles, Small, medium and large Learning triangles, Dominant triangle, Trapeze figure, Striving figure,

Small Learning Triangle figure

  • People with this figure are not satisfied with an external situation which keeps cropping up. Often they are motivated by an inner unrest and dissatisfaction which others around them cannot pin down. They are preoccupied with processing the experiences in the fields of life concerned with the dissatisfaction. What they want is not an analysis of the problem but to experience themselves fully in the area of life that is problematic.

Large Learning Triangle

  • The basic motivation is expansion of consciousness, learning and development. Tension is sought out and not avoided as conflict is seen as a challenge and stimulation of adopting an appropriate searching attitude and striving for a solution to the conflict. The danger of this figure is that its solutions are too simplistic and may only offer relief for a short time when personal desires for harmony and longing have been given into too soon.

Double Ambivalence with quincunx figure- John’s Chart has this

  • Need for security as well as a tendency to structure life according to his own ideas. With blue triangle on the you side, has a relaxing effect on the environment.
