Supplies: Watercolor Paper, Chalk Pastels, Pencil, Art Label + Glue Stick
Framing (optional): Cardboard Backing, Cellophane, Tape
Lesson Description: Video Length: 38:19
This video has student’s creating a pastel abstract drawing inspired by Jean Dubuffet, a French artist known for abstract art. Students learn about Jean Dubuffet's art features which include abstract shapes and sculptures. Kim, the host, encourages creative freedom and embraces the idea of raw art. The video emphasizes that using parallel lines and various directions to create a unique pattern within the abstract shapes. After completing the initial design, students are encouraged to revisit their artwork and add more shapes/solids/stripes to enhance its complexity. If students are framing artwork, please watch the additional instructional video after completion. NOTE: Oil pastels are used in this video but chalk pastels will substitute.
