Fair Shares

Your Task:

You and your team will be given a certain amount of “licorice” and you will be designated a team based on the situations below. You will need to work together to find out how to divide your “licorice” equally among your group.

Team W has 3 members and 5 pieces of licorice

Team X has 5 members and 9 pieces of licorice

Team Y has 6 members and 10 pieces of licorice

Dividing Poster

Once you have figured out how to divide your pieces equally, you will now create a poster explaining your thinking. On your poster you must have:

  1. A picture showing how the licorice was divided
  2. A division number sentence that represents the problem
  3. Words explaining what each person gets and why
  4. An explanation of how you know you are sharing equally
