•What is ‘colourful semantics’?

•How to support your school to implement and use ‘colourful semantics’ as a school/whole class approach.

•How to support your school to expand the use of ‘colourful semantics’ into all areas of the curriculum.

WHAT IS COLOURFUL SEMANTICS?

The assigning of a colour to each element of a sentence/question words.

Used to build sentence structure & grammar.

Different colours used in UK and worldwide.

NO right or wrong way to use Colourful Semantics – flexible and work well with other resources.

How does colorful semantics help our learners?

Helps with understanding and structure of sentences & grammar

Helps children by adding a visual element

Can be incorporated to support talking, listening, thinking and writing skills

Can be used for individual and group work

Can be used in all curricular areas

Colours can be introduced one at a time or all together.
All classes would benefit from having the question cards displayed beside their smartboards.
The cards can be used a a visual prompt when using questions during input and plenary.
