INCLUSION

In our mixed ability classes,

typically developing students and students with special needs learn together.Children in inclusive classrooms:Accept and embrace diversity

Master activities by practicing and teaching others

Develop social skills

Create meaningful friendships

Increase self esteem

ALL student needs are met

Research shows that the benefits of inclusive classrooms reach beyond academics. This is particularly important for young children, who learn best when they feel safe, secure, and at home in their classrooms. An environment that encourages young children's social and emotional development will stimulate all aspects of their learning.

“Children are immersed in learning through purposeful play-based experiences on topics they’re familiar with from their everyday lives. Children find opportunities for rigorous skill development like counting, measurement, and language comprehension while also developing positive relationships, gross-motor skills, and problem solving abilities.”
