The arithmetic box is a tool that helps the blind people to write mathematical problems, like multiplications, divisions, etc.
We need to say that this isnt a calculator, is like a notebook were they can “write” the math problems, but the box wont resolve the operation

How does it work?
The box has 2 sections, in the first one, there are acrilic pieces that create small ¨boxes¨ that has the little pieces of plastic that have the numbers and symbols on it and the other section has a board with holes on it to put the pieces of plastic.

In each little acrilic box there is a laser that we use with a fotoresistance to know when something is blocking the laser, for example the hand of the user in this case.
Then when the laser is intersected, the box is going to call with a speaker, the name of the number or the symbol that we choose until the hand of the user is take off.

Materials:
Arduino card (just one).
Cables.
MDF and an acrilic sheet and also a lasercut to make the box pieces.
Speaker.
Amplificator.
Number display.
SD card reader.
9 lasers.
9 fotoresistance.
Buttons.
Cooper boards that we made to simplify the circuit.
Power bank to make it rechargable.

Why do we decide this project?
We wanted to solve a ploblematic of this population sector because sometime is not remembered so we saw an oportunity with this proyect by seing that the blind people dont have a useful tool for the school, and that they need this tool especialy for mathematics, because is very difficult for they to resolve in a quick and effictive way a math problem.
Something important to announce is that with our project we can reduce on a half the time that a blind person take to solve a math or arithmetic problem, and also it helps to the blind people to improve their hearing ability.
