underhand relay

  • Empty your laundry basket!
  • Place the basket at one end of the room.
  • Make 10 sock balls and place them at the opposite end of the room from the basket.
    • Place yourself in the middle and get your timer ready.
  • Start the timer, run to the sock balls and grab one ball. Run back to the middle spot and underhand toss the ball into the basket. Continue running back to a sock ball and then your middle spot for another underhand throw attempt.
  • Continue this until you have thrown all your sock balls. Once finished, stop the timer and see how long it took for you to finish.
    • Bonus points for every sock you successfully made into the basket.

partner toss and catch

  • You will need a large space for this activity.
    • Ask a family member to help you with this challenge.
  • Face your partner and underhand toss a ball or sock ball to them. If they caught it, ask them to take one step backwards.
    • They will then toss the ball to you, and if you catch it, take one step backwards.
  • Continue tossing and stepping backwards to see how far of a distance you can make without dropping the ball.
  • Attempt this activity for 10 minutes or until you have run out of space.

  • Find a medium to large space like a backyard or nearby park.
  • Create a line on the ground using cones, paper, or other objects.
  • Using a ball, underhand throw into open space to see how far your ball can go.
    • Make sure not to pass the line!
  • Attempt 10 different throws and see if you can beat your own distance!

standing bottle flip

  • Find a water bottle, drink 75% of it and leave 25% or one quarter left.
  • Standing on both feet, use an underhand throwing motion to flip your bottle in the air.
    • If your bottle lands on its bottom and stays standing, you earn 1 point.
  • Continue to flip your bottle until you earn 20 points or 10 minutes have passed.

    • Living a healthy and active lifestyle is all about making personal activity choices. You know what you like to do to safely move your body. Go do that for at least 15 minutes.

  • You will need 10 paper plates or pieces of paper/cardboard.
  • Create a medium to large circle with your paper plates, with a basket in the middle.
  • Stand on a plate and face your basket. Underhand toss the ball towards the basket and if you make it, you can take that plate as a point.
  • Continue to throw from each plate until you have collected them all. Attempt this activity twice or until 15 minutes have passed.

ultimate bowling

  • Look around your house and locate 10 items that are not breakable and are able to stand up (paper towel, water bottle, etc.).
    • Place these items at one end of the room in various spots with space in between each one.
  • Stand across on the other side of the room and underhand toss your ball towards the items attempting to knock them down. If you knock down an object, remove it from the area.
  • Continue underhand tossing until all your objects have been knocked down and removed.
  • Repeat this activity 3 times.

Toss it -- catch it

  • Grab your ball or sock ball and prepare to toss and catch with YOURSELF!
  • Set a timer for 10 minutes and attempt underhand throws of various heights. Some should be low throws, while others higher throws.
    • If indoors, be careful of the ceiling. Once you throw your object, be sure to catch it as it comes back down to you.
  • Have fun and try challenging catches like one hand, behind the back, through the legs, etc.

cornhole challenge

  • Cornhole is an awesome backyard game! You will need a target like a basket, bucket, or box and 3 balls, sock balls, or small stuffed animals.
  • Place your target 15 feet away from you on its side so the opening is facing you.
  • Use an underhand throwing motion and try to toss each object into your target.
    • Each time you get your object into your target, you get one point.
  • After you throw all 3 objects, start over and continue adding up your points.
  • Perform this activity for 10 minutes.
