Yesterday we dug into design principles and PBL essentials. Today, let’s consider what the outcomes we expect for students.

Student Learner Outcomes are sometimes also referred to as Deeper Learning Competencies.
These are part of our charter - or commitment to our community.

Project Calendars

We’re going to spend some time in teaching teams to calendar out learning experiences for students.

Think of this as giving your project shape.

What are the learning experiences that students will engage in over the course of your project?

When will they happen?

Which SLOs are those experiences connected to?

For example,

In a Humanities class, students might engage in a novel study or book club over the course of several weeks.

Calendar out when this learning experience will take place during your project. What will happen at the end of the novel study?
Which SLOs might be bolstered during a book club process?

In a Biology class, students might engage in field work launching a weather balloon and tracking its path.

At which point in the project would they do this? How long will it take? What will they do with the results?
Which SLOs might students be developing in the process?
