My experience in the General Store has been great. From my experiences I’ve learned how to operate and run a business, manage money, take inventory, and made connections with several community partners.

The experiences I have been through have helped me grow so much as an individual. Kevin Bowling is the head welding guy at TNT Erectors who has helped my progress so much.

Fall 2019: I am thankful for the experience to learn and grow from working with young children.

My Work-Based learning experience has impacted me by showing what the real world of work is really like. My Work -Based experience impacted my community by showing a company students can and will work just like the rest of the people out there.

This experience has given me new perspectives, new responsibilities, and new traits of my own.

I personally have been affected maybe even more than I have affected my workplace making it probably one of the best decisions of my life.

Given that I have had the chance to do these things in the field, in the community, and under real life circumstances instead of a test on paper, I feel that I have learned a lot about my career as well as impacted my community.

Being out in the community working has given me the opportunity to feel more prepared for life after high school. This WBL experience has also helped me in deciding what I would like to study in college by giving me a more sound idea of what working in this field is like. I am thankful for this opportunity because it will overall save me time and money by giving me a more concrete idea of what I want to study in college and making it less likely that I will change majors as many students do because they did not have this chance to see what working in that field is like beforehand.

There is something to be said about working with these kids. To me, seeing them have that "light bulb" moment when they grasp a concept or finally learn a sight word is one of the most rewarding things in the world. I'm supposed to be there to help them learn, but the reality is, they teach me so much each and everyday, and I'm so thankful for this WBL Experience.

I am so thankful for all of my co-workers at the Central Office who inspire me to do my best everyday. I am blessed to have had this opportunity to grow as a person.

The environment around you can change who you are and you can CHANGE the environment around you.

Every day that I go into work, I learn something new. Whether it is tools on the truck, ways to rescue victims from fires, or even just how to become a great firefighter.

There is people I get to learn things from everyday and this will affect my community because I will be using the skills they have taught me in the future to continue to build my community.

What I have enjoyed most about Hardin Memorial is my growth in communicating. I have learned how to effectively communicate with multiple different healthcare professionals.

NPR was a great place for me. I learned new things there and got to meet some of the best people that showed me how to get the job done. I am thankful I got the opportunity to work there and meet new people.

Before I started in this position, I had no way to gain experience and no way to obtain knowledge of real life experiences relating to my career.

Through my time with Mudd's Painting, I have developed a strong work ethic. Daniel and his crew inspire me everyday to work my hardest, and persevere even when times are tough.

Since working at the Critter Cradle I have made strong connections with those that I work with and have found life-long friends.

These kids show so much appreciation for everything I do and when ever I am out in the community I am constantly running into them as they scream “Hi Mr. Austin!” Knowing that I am having an impact on these kids lives is what I appreciate most about my job at Foster Heights and it has been a very meaningful experience for me.

I've had the opportunity to work with new people everyday. This has been a great experience being able to work in customer service.

I have felt more connected and happier than I had ever felt at my other job. Overall I am very glad that I took this position and thankful for the rest of my lunch staff.

​

I also help the staff build and create new ways to do things. For example right now I’m helping this one teacher and her students with their parade idea.

My Work-Based Learning Experience has helped me develop more friendships and open my eyes and helped me develop a better understanding on what specialty I want to major in in college

My experience with my WBL has been tremendous. I have learned valuable skills that will aid me for the rest of my life.

I also learned about the value of community involvement and community gatherings and how it plays a role in the success of businesses.

Doing the Bluegrass Aerospace Experience has opened me up to lots of new experiences and meeting lots of new people I would not have met if I was not given this opportunity. Also, through my Work Based Learning Experience I have been able to experience the real world. This opportunity challenges me everyday and I get to get more experience then I would if I was in the classroom all day.

...I decided that I want to go into the Aviation Maintenance, which is something I never would have considered otherwise.

My Work Based Experience has impacted me by challenging me and teaching me new ways of doing things. Doing this program has showed me lots of real world experiences.

Bourbon City Recyling is having a positive impact on our Community. We are able to get rid of waste that has a negative impact on the world. Working with recycling has also impacted me in a postivie way because I am able to help keep our planet clean of harmful waste.

This experience is going to help me in the future with my social skills as well as how to react to certain problems.

Through my Work-Based Learning Experience, working at Discovery Child Care LLC has impacted my life in many ways. Working with kids 6 weeks to 12 years old can be stressful, but I wouldn't want to grow relationships with any other kids.

Through the Work-Based Learning Experience, my passion for education has grown tremendously. Knowing that I’m helping every student in some way is life-changing.

My work based learning has affected me by allowing me to use my strengths to create new things for my school and General Store communities.

The General Store is a really unique experience where we are being given the opportunity to build a functioning business from the ground up. Within the store we have several leadership positions and I have taken on the role of general manager which has given me a lot of practice running a business.

I began to bond with the kids and some of the teachers. I even have to see certain kids everyday before I leave work because that’s how much I enjoy seeing them.

Home School Spring 2020:

My experience has taught me many valuable life lessons and most importantly what it means to be apart of a family business.

Work-Based Learning has benefited me tremendously and I believe that this form of learning is the best way to learn.

Over all it’s been a great experience. I would recommend it to anybody it’s an amazing experience with awesome benefits.

Through my time working at the office, I have had a great opportunity to gain valuable skills for everyday life and the experience is one in a lifetime.

My experience impacted the community by showing them what WBL is. There have been numerous times people have came into my work and asked how old I was and what I was doing there instead of school, the answer is always the same,”I’m learning.”

Throughout my work based learning I have met so many people from different states and in our community here in Bardstown.

My work-based learning experience has impacted my community by showing the community around us that we are a school system that is willing to come together to create something that can

The experiences I've had have brought me a lot. Along with placing me within a job for after graduation.

Doing this work based learning made me learn this is not the place I want to be. Something positive I’ve learned was what it really takes to run a store.

Through this experience I have grown as a person allowing my perspective on the world to change. The small, consistent acts of pure kindness is what makes a difference in someone's life, a community, and the world.

All together I have this amazing gift that I can go out to a hospital and experience the things that I am experiencing!

Working in the office I have created many lasting relationships with my mentors, Mrs. Foster and Mrs. Donna who help me to be a better version of myself.

I never thought that I would want to work with kids after high school, but since I’ve started working at a daycare I know for sure it’s what I want to do! I’ve learned so much and I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with such great kids!

I AM EXCITED TO TAKE PART IN THE GREATER KNOX CODING ACADEMY. IT HAS AFFORDED ME THE CHANCE TO CHALLENGE MYSELF & TO BECOME PART OF THIS FOUNDATIONAL WORK.

Overall my experiences have been good and I have enjoyed what I have been doing and am thankful for the opportunities I have been offered.

Working at UPS was a great experience from the people I worked with to the job at hand. The opportunity it presented was great and I enjoyed the experience as a whole and would recommend this opportunity.

My Work- Based Learning has impacted me because its allowing me to learn time management, how to save money, and how to learn how to interact with my coworkers.

My Work-Based Learning Experience impacted my community by allowing students to grow in all areas and not allowing their growth to be determined by test scores.

Becoming apart of Merchant PACT has helped me learn more about what happens behind the scenes of credit card security. It has been a great experience for me.

Being in the General Store is a fun and informative experience. I think if we all put our minds to it we can make something really special in our school community.

Through WBL I have had the opportunity to meet new people in our community. I get to have conversations with them and stay connected with them.

In the end, I feel like my WBL has allowed me to go out of my comfort zone and learn many life traits that I could have never learned while sitting in a classroom.

During that day I got to understand the difficulties that can come with laying cabling, like fitting in extremely tight places that weren’t meant for you and make sure you have enough cable before you run it. It was definitely a learning experience.

Work-Based Learning Experience has impacted me by being able to work with people i don't know and meeting new people and becoming a great person.

As a whole I really enjoyed the experience as whole at CCES all the staff members are really welcoming and I’ve learned a lot of life skills for me to use throughout life.

My Experience impacts my community because I am out meeting new people everyday. It allows me to be social and express my gifts instead of having to sit in a classroom all day.

My Work-Based Learning Experience impacted me by having the opportunity to experience a job, and igot to be able to learn new things and had new experiences.

My father being a great role model and boss, I was able to learn business and life skills as well as the importance of small businesses in the community and the impact it has on the world.

Work based learning has been the best experience I have had in high school yet. There are not to many people in other schools that can say that they leave high school after second period and go out into the community and work.

This experience has taught me so much about myself as a worker and as a person. I’m beyond grateful to be part of something that builds my leadership skills, helps me effectively communicate, and overall shapes me into a team player.

Work based learning has shown me what it truly means to be an adult. Tackling school, budgeting my money, and making sure I am responsible as an employee not only in the store but making sure I am a excellent employee out of the store.

My Work-Based Learning Experience impacted me by create new relationships in the community and learning new skills that will better my future. I worked at NPR and I really enjoyed my time there.

I have gained lots of knowledge that will help me in my future. I’ve learned how to put in purchase orders, how to put in journal entries, how ORG codes work, how to liquidate purchase orders, but I’ve also learned a lot about myself. I’ve learned that accounting and finance truly is what I want to do in my future.

The freedom I have through WBL has allowed me to be much closer to my future story plans than I could’ve ever imagined that I would be this year.

� It's the freedom of leaving school and going straight to work. I have connected with a lot of people inside of Nelson County. Being able to understand how small business work like time, money, and paperwork, etc.

Through this experience I have learned the true meaning of ‘Take Care Of this Place.

I’ve had the opportunity of meeting new people and the chance to learn the unexpected.

I have always had my heart set on being a nurse, possibly a correctional nurse, but now I believe I want my future story to involve children. I am now thinking of becoming a pediatric nurse.

My work based learning experience has impacted me by giving me a good taste of reality.

My experiences working at Wings has taught me different kinds of responsibility. Handling money, handling food, and coming to terms with ¨the customer is always right.

It has really changed my life. It teachs so many new life skills I could use in my everyday life. Understanding computers more could help me in my future job. Also helping me understand what I might want to become after I graduate high school. It has a huge impact on me as a whole.

There’s no greater impact than the one your community gives you. Especially ones so small.

Jim Hagan has been such a great influence on me, he has given me so many opportunities that I could have never gotten in a normal classroom. Jim has pushed me out of my comfort zone and does more and more everyday.

Working with all the staff through various projects and tasks has allowed me to expand on my leadership and learn more about the Nelson County Community.

I learned that my job title was line crew but when I’m not refueling airplanes I'm meeting new people/pilots, cleaning the hangars/aircraft, making sure the ramp is suitable for aircraft, providing a perimeter for security for the airport, and most importantly I am learning.

I feel like we have changed the way the community looks at high schoolers, through us personally calling them or face to face talking to them about what we are trying to do.

This work based learning has improved my social skills and allows me to meet new people in the community

I’m grateful for the opportunity to work in a community different from my own. The experience has taught me what it takes to run a business and what it means to provide customer service.

My work based learning experience has helped me to meet some great people at

Bardstown City Hall and to have a different view of historic preservation.

The General Store has been a great learning experience. It has helped me better understand how to run a business, and what it takes to create one.

My WBL Experience impacted my community by helping everyone be able to mow their grass again and it showed that as seniors we are able to be responsible and go to school and leave and go to work and manage it all.

My whole life I’ve always said that I’d never be a teacher. However, having the opportunity to work at Bloomfield Elementary has given me a new perspective on teaching as a career field.

I help out during their 2nd and 3rd lunch and I’ve made many relationships with the students. I feel like the kids really like me there and I feel like I’ve made an impact on them. My Work Based Learning experience impacted my community by showing kids that you can do whatever you put your mind to, you just have to have potential. I’ve encouraged them that they can do the same thing I’m doing their senior year of high school.

Overall, I have enjoyed doing work base and being able to not only see myself grow now, but also having the amount of opportunities I do at UPS really makes me feel good about my future as a radiology tech.

This has shown me a new pathway for my future which is that I would love to become a kindergarten teacher. Working at the daycare has taught me how to handle and treat kids in certain situations.
