M- Introduce the MAIN IDEA that you want to focus on.

E-Use EVIDENCEto support your argument

A- ANALYSISWhat does this evidence suggest? Explain the relevance of the evidence.

This should show up more than evidence.

L LINK Summarize the paragraph and make connections.

In a well-developed (Level4) paragraph answer the following: “My Community-Based Learning Experience impacted me by …. “ and “My CBL Experience impacted my community by …”

I encountered a new perspective as I took on a role at the Nelson County Early Learning Center as a student worker in a classroom filled with four year olds. For 17 years I have been the student learning, but now I am the one teaching. I never wanted to be a preschool teacher, so when I begin this journey it was just a job to me. However, weeks went by of teaching my students, playing games at centers, and talking with them. I realized I had a greater impact on these kids than I ever imagined by not only teaching them, but by providing love and encouragement. I feel grateful everyday when I am greeted with my students running up to me with joy. Through this experience I have grown as a person allowing my perspective on the world to change. The small, consistent acts of pure kindness is what makes a difference in someone's life, a community, and the world.

What struck you about the reflections?

What was a powerful learning experience from your teenage years? (school or not school)

Being out in the community working has given me the opportunity to feel more prepared for life after high school. This WBL experience has also helped me in deciding what I would like to study in college by giving me a more sound idea of what working in this field is like. I am thankful for this opportunity because it will overall save me time and money by giving me a more concrete idea of what I want to study in college and making it less likely that I will change majors as many students do because they did not have this chance to see what working in that field is like beforehand.
