Vacuum former - uses heat and a vacuum to form thermoplastics.

Place the former on the platen of vacuum former.

Clamp the HIPS securely above the former.

Place the heating elements over the HIPS until it softens.

Remove the heat, raise the platen and turn on the vacuum.

Once cool, remove the former from the moulded HIPS.

When using workshop equipment:

  • Wear safety goggles.
  • Tie long hair back.
  • No loose clothing.
  • Use machine guards
  • Wear gauntlets when handling hot material.
