Located in Jeju Island, South Korea, the GotJawal Forest is home to species of both Southern and Northern hemispheres.

It provides a suitable habitat for both endemic and invasive organism species. And sustains the harmonic beauty of the whole island.

Since Jeju was formed by volcanic activity, the rocky terrains could become an obstacle for trees. Despite these, the trees have embedded their roots into the soil and their roots sometimes are shown on the surface, which makes it special.

This is the Grey heron, species of whom it used to be easy to spot. With the rising temperatures and the development of the forests, the population of these beautiful winged-animals are slowly decreasing.

Small streams of beautiful colors spring to life, but because of trash and frequent visits of hikers, their beauty is muted.

Even though over development resulted in a terrible sight, environmentalists are endeavoring to find solutions to make up this harm done to the environment.

With the plans of building a new airport in place of our Gotjawal, chopped tree trunks are scattered everywhere.

The Gotjawal forests are home to numerous plants, including ferns.

The Gotjawal forest is at risk of construction(You can see how much forests have been cut down by the view of housings).
