DANCES (samba) by Adele
SAMBA
STAR GIRL
Presi dancing samba!!!
Traditional dance costumes
Women’s costumes
for samba are
rather short
dresses in
bright colors
mostly with
fringes and many
cut-outs, sequins, beads,
sometimes feathers, sewed-in flowers, showing women’s bare backs. A lot of times the dress is paired with a big colorful mask with feathers. The pretty dresses are descendants of the pretty costumes, used in the lavish festivals and carnivals in Rio de Janeiro.

Sushi is a traditional Japanese dish. It is made of rice, combined
with various ingredients like raw fish,
shrimp, vegetables
and sometimes
tropical fruit.
Then you wrap it
around with dried
seaweed into rolls.
Sushi is often served with soy sauce and wasabi.
Mochi is a Japanese rice cake. Traditionally that’s a
desert you would make
with your family on a Holiday,
even though nowadays
those traditions
aren’t followed
that much. The original
mochi has one
ingredient only
– whole rice, and is
made in only three easy steps.
Now there are different
variations of the mochi recipe, depending on which Holiday is closest to the time you make it. For example, around New Year’s be prepared to eat Kagami mochi, and during the Star festival – Saku mochi.
Japanese sport: Sumo
Sumo is a sport that is performed like traditional wrestling.
There are two wrestlers
fighting,
called rikishi.
In Japan sumo
is considered a
martial art.
Its traditions
are very
old and related
to Shinto
– Japanese ethnic religion.
THE STATUE OF LIBERTY: by Kris
Did you
know,
that the
Statue
of Liberty
was
originally
intended
for the Suez Canal?
When French sculptor
Frederic-Auguste
Bartholdi first had
the idea to build a
statue of a peasant
woman, dressed in
robes and holding a
massive torch, he originally wanted it to stand at the entrance of the Suez Canal with the name “Egypt bringing light to Asia”.
MYTHOLOGY and CAMELS: by Koko and Alex
Mythology
Another famous thing from
Ancient Egypt is its mythology.
People in the past believed
in the Afterlife – that is the
reason the pharaohs were
buried in special toms with
some of their most important
and expensive things. Another fact
is that they had different gods for
different things, for example Ra
– the god of the sun, Anubis –
god of the afterlife, Osiris
– god of the underworld,
Horus – god of the sky, Set- god
of the sky and thunder.
That’s a wrap!
