APP TERMINOLOGY

  • Early Decision (ED): A binding contract. If accepted, you must attend and withdraw other applications.
  • Early Action (EA): A non-binding option. You apply early and get results early without a commitment to attend.
  • Restricted Early Action (REA): Non-binding, but bars you from applying early to other private institutions.
  • Regular Decision (RD): Standard non-binding timeline with winter deadlines and spring results.
  • Rolling Admissions: Schools review and admit students on a first-come, first-served basis until classes fill up.
  • Open Admissions: Accepts nearly all high school graduates, typical of community colleges.

TN DIRECT ADMISSIONS

New for the Class of 2027, all TN high schools are participating in TN Direct Admissions. This state initiative provides graduating seniors with automatic acceptance to over 60 participating TN universities and tech schools.

No application and no fee required. Students then must claim their spots and complete additional information for the individual colleges.

Round 2 deadline is Sept 8 -- receive letter in early October
