ADORNMENT OF THE SOUL

What is true beauty called, �which shines from the inside out, �with the help of the Holy Spirit?

1 Thessalonians 4:3, 7

“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication

For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.”

Romans 6:22

“But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.”

What part of our being �is sanctified by the �Holy Spirit's work in us?

1 Thessalonians 5:23

“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

What advice is given �regarding our clothing �and personal appearance?

1 Timothy 2:9-10

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

What does the true adornment of �the Christian woman consist of?

1 Peter 3:2-5

“While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

“The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto �the Lord thy God.”

Does the Bible say anything �about the length of ladies´ hair?

1 Corinthians 11:14-15

“Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given �her for a covering.”

• We should radiate freshness, gentleness and simplicity so everyone can see something different in us. However, we should avoid being influenced by fashion or the opinion of others.
• Let us maintain a noble independence, trying to live for God. The joy of having loved and obeyed Jesus will be our reward. �In Isaiah 3:16-26, we can read the fate of vanity and disobedience.

What principles in the Bible �can we apply to amusement �and entertainment?

Philippians 4:8

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, �and if there be any �praise, think on �these things.”

Can our spiritual life be affected �by watching scenes of violence, �crime and adultery, even if they �are not true?

Isaiah 33:15-17

“He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;

He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

Thine eyes shall see the king in his �beauty: they shall behold the land �that is very far off.”

What advice is given to the person who wants to look for things that �are good and uplifting?

1 John 2:15-17

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

And the world passeth away, �and the lust thereof: but he �that doeth the will of God �abideth for ever.

What does God instruct those �who wish to show gratitude to �Jesus for having saved them?
