Appropriate locations
Any location with consistent, steady side-onshore winds, large open bodies of water and good launch areas is suitable for kitesurfing. Most kitesurfing takes place along ocean shores, usually off beaches, but it can also be practised on large lakes and inlets and occasionally on rivers.
Since kiteboarding relies heavily on favorable, consistent wind conditions, certain locations tend to become popular and sought out by kiteboarders.
History of kitesurf
Long ago, this system was used by Chinese and Indonesian, using kites to drag small boats.
But in 1997, this navigation system was patented by Gijsbertus Adrianus Panhuise in which, a surfboard is pulled by a kind of parachute, becoming the father of this sport.
One of the most popular countries in which this sport is played is Indonesia. It’s an excellent place to practise this sport, and here we find the kite surf industry.
In the Sant Pere Pescador beach, in 1998, the first kitesurfers were seen. One year later, in 1999, the first school of this sport was founded by Liberto Giménez, the Wind Station School.
