Key highlights from the district’s return to school plan

  • Health Metrics
    • There is an update to previous guidance that recommended using community spread metrics to dictate school opening/closing.
    • The new guidance provides a framework to achieve building safety, even in the context of high community spread, by focusing on infection control--rates of in-school transmission and metrics for the quality of infection control.
    • Dr. Kelley and district admin are meeting with the health officials to update D97 recommendations later this week.

How you can help:

Please support students and staff through this transition!

  • Support our teachers and staff by following all safety protocols. Following safety protocols will help keep schools open and our community healthy!
  • Keep in mind that there may be some fluidity between hybrid and remote in the event of illness or staffing issues.
  • Begin to have your child practice wearing a mask to build stamina, staying in their home desk for longer periods and eating on a schedule.
  • Talk to your child about what school will look like and the importance of following the new rules. If your child is staying remote explain that the daily schedule will change.
  • Once you are notified which door you will be lining up at, practice dropping off so your child is ready to line up independently on the first day.

How you can help, cont’d….

  • Each night ensure your child is ready to learn by charging their ipad, packing their snack and water bottle, any learning materials, and 2 clean masks.
  • Ensure you have completed the self certification form for your child(ren) no later that 7:15 am each morning.
  • Keep kids home if they are sick and communicate with Nurse Rossi immediately if you suspect exposure or posible Covid-19 diagnosis. Containment is key!
  • Be on time.
  • Get excited! Our children will follow our lead. Prepare them for changes while promoting a positive attitude to set them up for success!
