Quote of the Day

But colonialism in its harshest forms is not only the exploitation of new nations by old, of dark skins by light, or the subjugation of the poor by the rich. My Nation was once a colony, and we know what colonialism means; the exploitation and subjugation of the weak by the powerful, of the many by the few, of the governed who have given no consent to be governed, whatever their continent, their class, their color.

-John F. Kennedy

Discuss the quote with your group. Connect it to a pride behavior, explain what it means in your own words and connect it to the current unit.

Groups of no more than 4 will create a time capsule. You will need to take great thought into what will be sealed into your time capsule. You will need to describe each article with the reasoning of your choice and how it affected the growth and expansion of the British Colonies. Below are examples that can be deposited into your time capsule. Not only will you be choosing items to go in your time capsule, but you will also need to construct a time capsule with your items viewable to your classmates.

After groups have created their time capsules each student will write a five-paragraph essay explaining their choices and how they affected the growth and expansion of the British Colonies.
