The WIDA Consortium is a member-based organization made up of U.S. states, territories and federal agencies, and is dedicated to the research, design and implementation of a high-quality, standards-based system for K-12 English learners.

Member of the WIDA Consortium since 2005.

There is a 3-step process for ELL identification, including:

1. Home Language Survey (HLS) (all students);

2. Records review (all students who indicate a Language Other Than English);

3. Testing.

  • Overall scores are computed when all 4 domains have been completed
  • A-Oral Language=50% Listening+50% Speaking
  • B-Literacy= 50% Reading+ 50% Writing
  • C-Comprehension= 70% Reading + 30% Listening
  • D- Overall Score=
    • 35% Reading + 35% Writing + 15% Listening+ 15% Speaking
    • Scaled score equated to proficiency level which must be 4.5 to exit
