1. HAVE A STRONG HEART

  • Having a strong heart is also crucial for the first week in matric cause you'll be experiencing 'culture shock'. You see, matriculation programmed is a fast-track programmed and so the saying 'you snooze, you lose' is exactly how things are in matric.

2. BE DISCIPLINE

  • Make a timetable and follow it. Learn to manage your time wisely. You can be sure that the syllabus for your first semester will be packed so you really need a schedule to manage things around.
  • Use your time wisely. Avoid hanging out too much. You'll only wasting time. Keep in mind, your parents did not sent you here to play. So, just remember those advices your parents gave before they left you in the college.

3. BE WISE

  • In your lectures, some lecturer will give you notes while some don't. So, be WISE! You can get those notes from other students who happened to have them. However, if you still don't have the notes, fear not. Lecturers will give you time to copy in the lecture hall.

4. HAVE THE COMMITMENT

  • Never skip class. I mean NEVER. Believe me, if you do that, you're on the losing side. Again, remember your intention going there.

5. BE DILIGENT

  • When you finish a chapter or a subtopic, REVISE the same day you study it. Some people like to compile what they've learnt and revised at the end of the week. Let me tell you that this is the worst way to study (my lecturer said so). So don't be lazy to read up after class.
  • One more, when lectures gave you assignment, you MUST submit on time. lecturers will also give you marks ( Continuous Assessment) during the entire semester they teach you. So, don't ever keep a thought of submitting your tasks or assignments later than the due date.
