Cats are Killers!
We all know that it is in a cats nature to hunt and kill. They spent years in the wild having to hunt for their own food, so it is natural that they would still have this killer instinct despite being domesticated. Cat’s cannot resist their natural urge to hunt when they see a bird in the garden. They don’t know that they are murdering our native wildlife. Yet us humans are very aware of this.
There needs to be stricter laws about owning a cat as a pet. New Zealand has more cats per person than any other country and almost half our homes have more than one cat. With so many cats it is no wonder that many of our native species are under threat! We should put laws in place to protect these vulnerable creatures.
