SPACE10 is a research and design lab on
a mission to create a better everyday life
for people and the planet.
Based in Copenhagen’s meatpacking district, we research and design innovative solutions for some of the major societal changes expected to affect people and
our planet in the years to come.
We are proudly supported by and entirely dedicated to IKEA, but work as an independent lab. We bring new perspectives and design new solutions
that enable IKEA to live up to their original promise of creating a better everyday life
for the many people.

We want our research, design, approach, and philosophy to reach as many people as possible, and by doing so, hopefully, inspire others to design for a better future.
So to make our work more accessible, we’ve made a select number of projects available for exhibitors and galleries.
This catalogue gives you a quick overview of currently available projects — and guides
you on how to exhibit them.

The project assets consist of a mix of images, descriptions, GIFs and videos, depending on the individual project.
All images are ready for print with our recommended format and crop. However, if you have specific needs, highest resolution files are also included.
We encourage you to use the project descriptions in their entire length. But you’ll also find trimmed down descriptions for cases where every character counts, e.g. social channels.
Some projects (Bee Home and Growroom) also have physical assets, which we encourage you to build yourself. The designs are open-source, and step-by-step manuals are included for the specific projects.
SPACE10 (capital letters with no space) must be credited when exhibiting or sharing our assets online and offline, including a link to to space10.com
The same goes for collaborators involved in the projects. You can find their names in the project descriptions. Photographer and illustrator names can be found in the individual file names.
You’re welcome to present our assets in your own visual identity. If you prefer to use our identity, you’ll find our identity guidelines to the right.
Furthermore, please feel free to translate the project descriptions into local languages. We trust you to do an adequate translation and do not need to sign it off before use.

Bee Home
An Open Source Design for Our Planet
As pollinators, bees are essential to life on this planet. But now, because of human impact, their place in this world is threatened.
In collaboration with designer Tanita Klein and Bakken & Bæck, SPACE10 has launched Bee Home — a free and open-source design that enables anyone, anywhere, to support their local wild bees and take action in preserving the world’s biodiversity.

Although we cannot predict the future, we know that the way we consume and produce food must drastically change.
Future Food Today is SPACE10’s first cookbook. Co-developed with Barkas and published by FRAME, it’s a tangible vision for what the sustainable kitchen of tomorrow may look like.
Exploring everything from micro-algae to insects and no-waste snacks, the recipes are designed to rekindle our fundamental need to come together over food and take care of ourselves and our planet.

SolarVille
A Vision for a
Clean Energy Future
Around 3.5 billion people worldwide still have little or no access to electricity, and it is an almost impossibly expensive task to reach these people using the electricity distribution system of today.
Against this backdrop, SPACE10 created SolarVille: a working prototype of a miniature neighbourhood entirely powered by the sun. To democratise sustainable energy using solar power and blockchain technology, it explores how we can rethink our entire energy system.

Spaces on Wheels
Exploring a Driverless Future
Self-driving cars are no longer strictly science fiction. Fully autonomous vehicles are on the verge of becoming commonplace in daily life — especially in cities.
In response to this, SPACE10 created Spaces on Wheels: a playful research project that challenges the traditional idea of the car. ��To spark a debate around urban mobility, we designed seven autonomous vehicles to visually explore how self-driving cars could one day enable a better everyday life.

The Growroom
Exploring How Cities Can Feed Themselves
SPACE10 envisions a future where we grow our own food much more locally. To spark conversations about how we can bring nature back into our cities, we teamed up with architects Sine Lindholm and Mads-Ulrik Husum to create The Growroom.
The Growroom is an urban farm pavilion and an example of food-producing architecture. Standing tall as a spherical garden of 2.8 x 2.5 metres, it empowers people to grow their own food in a beautiful and sustainable way.

Tomorrow’s Meatball
A Visual Exploration
of Future Foods
It can be hard to picture that we will regularly be eating insects or artificial meat in the near future. But, with the increasing demand for food, we need to look for alternative ingredients for our daily menu.
With Tomorrow’s Meatball, SPACE10 set out to explore how we can produce more food with less. It’s a visual exploration of the future of food, focusing on alternative ingredients, technological innovations and uncharted gastronomic territories.

Urban Village
A Vision for Liveable, Sustainable and Affordable Homes
Cities all around the world are facing complex issues like rapid urbanisation, ageing populations, a lack of natural resources, and the impacts of the climate crisis. And at the same time, we are in the middle of a global housing crisis.
Together with EFFEKT Architects and IKEA, SPACE10 has created the Urban Village Project. It’s a vision for how to design, build and share our future homes, neighbourhoods and cities, to improve our quality of life and make our everyday more liveable, sustainable and affordable.
