Scene 1

Weatherman Storm Watch: (standing in front of a large weather map)

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Storm Watch here with your early morning weather forecast. As you can see by the map behind me, we have been hit overnight by a Nor’easter that came in and pounded our community with buckets and buckets of fluffy white precipitation. If you don’t believe me, just look out the window. There’s snow on the lake! There’s snow on the trees! There’s snow on the streets. Folks, there’s snow everywhere! Ladies and gentlemen, it’s fantastic! For, as we all know, anything can happen when it snows! (in a serious tone) On a sad note, because of this blizzard, there’s a good chance school will have to be called off for the rest of the week!

All: We love the snow!

7 of 27

Song 1: Snow Biz!

Snow Time!

Wintertime is here, the ground is smothered in snow;

Every evergreen is covered in white.

Oh, we can’t get enough of that flaky frozen stuff,

So we hope we’ll have a storm tonight!

Anything can happen when the winter winds blow.

It’s magic when the snow begins to fall.

We like it when there’s sun, but for whacky winter fun,

We love a blizzard most of all!

Oh, we love snow biz,

That wicky wacky winter snow biz!

Oh, every day we hope and pray for more.

We love the season, and winter is the snowy reason.

So come and see our dog and pony snow,

Each song is a pure as driven snow.

I’m just a girl who loves the snow.

Let’s go on with the snow.

Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen, it’s the fabulous and hilarious Zamboni Brothers!

Z1: Hey! What do you get if you cross a snowman and a mean dog?

Z2: I dunno. What DO you get if you cross a snowman and a mean dog?

Z1: Frostbite!

Z3: I’ve got one! I’ve got one! Knock knock!

Z4: Who’s there?

Z3: Freeze.

Z4: Freeze who?

Z3: Freeze a jolly good fellow. Freeze a jolly good fellow.

Z5: What do snowmen wear on their heads?

Z6: Ice caps!

Z7: What do snowmen eat for lunch?

Z8: Icebergers!

Z9: Where do snowmen go to dance?

Z10: Snowballs!

Z11: How do snowmen travel around?

Z12: By icicle!

It gets a little crazy when the snow starts to fall;

Everything is really whippin in the breeze.

Everybody better hurry.

I feel a flakey flurry and don’t forget the antifreeze

We’ll ride on a toboggan or a big snowmobile.

We gotta get some snow tonight.

We’ll have a lot of fun, even though our noses run.

Let’s have a snowball fight!

Oh we love snow biz, that wicky wacky winter snow biz!

Oh, every day we hope and pray for more.

We love the season, and winter is the snowy reason.

It’s time to get on up and start the snow.

You can feel all the excitement start to snow!

RUNNERS! MARK! READY! SNOW!

Let’s go on with the snow.

Oh, snow biz, snow biz, snow biz,

On with the snow! SNOW BIZ!

Scene 2

Prof Snow it All: (with ridiculous accent) My name is Professor Snow-It-All, because I do! (pause) Snow it all!! Get it? Snow it all? (slight pause) Get it? Snow it all?

(All groan)

Prof Snow it All: Now, I am certain you are all vundering vhat is it dat makes da snow! (pause) Me too. (he catches himself) I mean, (very enthusiastically) me too! I have often vundered vat makes da snow.

Whiny Student: Well?

Prof Snow it All: Vell, what?

Whiny Student: What makes the snow?

Prof Snow it All: I have no idea! (slight pause) Yust kidding! Now listen veery carefully. A snowflake starts out as tree ingredients: vater vapor, ice crystals, and dust. Ice crystals form ven vater vapor freezes on a microscopic piece of dust.

Students: Dust?!

Prof Snow it All: Dust! Around da dust, snow begins forming in da very cold cloud dat has both super cold vater droplets and da ice crystals. When vater vapor droplets collide with da ice crystal, da droplet freezes to it. Dis makes it grow into a larger ice crystal. When many ice crystals stick together and fall, dis is vat ve call a “snowflake”.

Whiny Student: (now very confused) But Prof Snow it All, I don’t understand.

Prof Snow it All: Hmm. Let’s see. Let me make it a little more simple. Hit it, Mort! (cues the music)

Song 2: It Comes Out Snow

Snow, Snow,

Sleet, Sleet,

Slush, Slush,

Hail, Hail,

Snow, Sleet Slush Hail,

Snow Sleet Slush Hail,

Snow Sleet Slush Hail,

You take a little H2O,

Make the temperature real low.

A little bit of dust is a snowflake must.

From the cloud, it comes out snow. NO! YO! Snow?

From the cloud it comes out snow!

Snow, Sleet Slush Hail,

Snow Sleet Slush Hail,

Now just let me be precise;

That cloud is chock-full of ice.

If they decide, they must collide from the cloud, they’ll come out snow.

Yo! From the cloud they’ll come out snow.

Hi-dee-ho! Everybody is making snow.

We’re swinging to and fro,

Down from our ice caps to our frozen toes.

Oh, now we know, how to make a snowflake grow.

Everybody look out below, here comes the snow!

Snow is everything you make it.

Slice it, freeze it, dice it, flake it.

Mix it up and let her blow.

Here comes the

Snow, Sleet Slush Hail,

Snow Sleet Slush Hail,

Now we’re making snow, oh!

Now we’re making snow,

Now we’re making snow, oh!

Now we’re making snow,

Now we’re making snow, oh!

Here comes the snow!

Hi-dee-ho! Everybody is making snow.

We’re swinging to and fro,

Down from our ice caps to our frozen toes.

Oh, now we know, how to make a snowflake grow.

Everybody look out below, here comes the snow.

Here comes the snow. Here comes the snow!

(Snow, sleet, slush, hail) Now we’re making snow! Yeah

Scene 3

Weatherman: Storm Watch here, ladies and gentlemen, and I don’t think I need to tell you that there’s been a tremendous snowstorm. I’m sure by now you have all shoveled your driveway and are out enjoying this beautiful wintry day! I hope so, because Round Two is coming in from the west and we are going to be hammered! Hammered, ladies and gentlemen, hammered!

(The entire cast in onstage. Everyone is frolicking in the snow. They are pretending to skate, ski, build snowmen, making snow angels, etc. Gradually a slow rumble gets louder. The Snow Angels sit up. All look in horror at the audience.)

All: SNOWPLOW!

Scene 4

(Snowboarder dude talks but no one understands what he’s saying.)

Dude: Yo, shredders, come on. We’re really gonna pound some pow today.

Skier 1: What?!

Translator: Uh, he means “hello, snowboard enthusiasts. There’s fresh snow on the mountain, perfect for snowboarding.”

Skier 2: What language is he speaking?

Translator: Oh it’s snowboarder lingo. I’m fluent. Watch this! Yo Dude, you gonna slay the trail before you bail?

Dude: Yeah, two plankers. My posse and I built a slick kicker in the back country and we aim to gap the pike with my plank tonight. We’ll scope the landing before we hap the bank, but with dust on the crust that phat 9 should be schwank.

13 of 27

Scene 4 continued

Translator: He means “Hello young skiers. My friends and I have taken the opportunity to pile up a lot of snow in order to build a lovely snow ramp off the regular ski trail. We are going to try some jumps with our snowboards later on this evening.”

Skier 2: That’s all?

Translator: Well, he also indicated that they are going to carefully check out the landing from their ramp before they try anything. But with the fresh new fallen snow on top of the hard pack underneath, the jump that they have prepared should be really…..schwank!

All: Schwank?!

Translator: Uh….cool!

Skier 3: Well, why didn’t he just say so?

14 of 27

Song 4: Catch My Drift

Come on every shredder, pound some pow today.

We built a slick kicker in the back country all the way.

We’ll slay the trail before you bail.

We’ll gap the pike whatever you like.

So get your plank and catch a drift today.

We’re snowboardin’, we’re havin’ some fun.

Snowboardin’ in the snow and sun.

Snowboardin’ everything is goin’ my way-ay-ay

Snowboardin’ we’re feelin’ tight.

Snowboardin’ everything’s all right.

Cutting the pow-pow on a big bad bluebird day.

GO! Go!

We’ll scope the landing before we gap the bank.

With dust on the crust that phat 9 should be schwank.

The boys will steeze; the girls will stomp,

Bomb through the trees and let ‘er romp

Everybody’s sketchin’. Are you catchin’ my drift today?

We’re snowboardin’, we’re havin’ some fun.

Snowboardin’ in the snow and sun.

Snowboardin’ everything is goin’ my way-ay-ay

Snowboardin’ we’re feelin’ tight.

Snowboardin’ everything’s all right.

Cutting the pow-pow on a big bad bluebird day.

GO! Go!

Do ya catch my drift? Yeah!

We’re snowboardin’, we’re havin’ some fun.

Snowboardin’ in the snow and sun.

Snowboarding’, everything is going’ my way-ay-ay

Snowboardin’, we’re feelin’ tight.

Snowboardin’, everything’s all right.

Cuttin’ the pow-pow on a big bad bluebird day.

Go! Go! Yeah!

Scene 5

(Ice fishermen are out on the ice with a fishing shack behind them. There are tip ups on the ice. They are sitting on buckets and are freezing. Ice Cream Peddler knocks on the door of the fishermen’s shack.)

Peddler: Uh excuse me, fishermen. May I interest you in a tasty Sherbet Push Up? Or I’ve got Lemon ice cream, Spumoni ice cream, Butterscotch ice cream, Chocolate Revel ice cream…

(He notices their incredulous looks)

Peddler: I’ve got Tutti Frutti ice cream, Rocky Road ice cream, Vanilla ice cream……

(the fishermen are shivering and staring at him)

Peddler: Maybe not, huh? By the way, what are you boys doing out here? Don’t you know this lake is, uh, frozen?

Fishermen: Good question.

Scene 6

(The postal workers are getting ready to go out and make their rounds.)

Underscore: Postal Worker March

Head Postal Worker: Now, men and women, you’ve got to get out there and deliver that mail. I know it’s forty below and there are three feet of snow falling every hour, but remember…

All: (tiredly) We know, “Neither rain, nor sleet nor snow nor dark of night shall stay this courier from his appointed rounds”

Head Postal Worker: I can’t HEAR you!!

All: (enthusiastically) We know, “Neither rain, nor sleet nor snow nor dark of night shall stay this courier from his appointed rounds”

Scene 6 Continued

Young postal worker: But Captain! It’s cold out there!

HPW: Cold, shmold, Private! That’s why you have these government issue garments to wear!

(They look at the big pile of clothes)

Postal Worker 2: We’re supposed to wear all that?!

HPW: It’s all about being prepared, soldier! Being prepared!! And training! Now, stand up, shoulders back, chests out, stomachs in! You are U.S. Postal Workers.

All: Yes sir!

HPW: Let me show you what I mean. Do I have a volunteer?

(Littlest cast member volunteers)

Littlest Post Worker: I’ll volunteer sir.

HPW: Perfect

Song 6: The Postal Worker March

Start out with some thermal underwear, (Underwear!)

Wool stockings, and make it several pair (Several pair!)

We’ve got to get it right, make it warm and watertight,

To keep out the bitter winter air.

Before you can head out on the town, (On the town)

Pull on a parka stuffed with down, (from a goose)

A beanie for your head made with scratchy woollen thread,

A fuzzy muffler wrapped around and round.

Then we’ll march on delivering the mail.

Yes, we’ll march on and never ever fail.

We cannot let you down.

We are ready to go, marching always marching,

Though the winter wind may blow!

Yes, we’ll march on delivering the mail.

Marching on over hill and snowy trail.

You really ought to know that I am a postal pro.

We march through the rain and sleet and snow!

Black rubber boots to warm your toes (warm your toes)

Now put a cozy on around your nose (what a nose)

The wind won’t cause you harm.

Hey I can’t move my arms!

You can’t have too many winter clothes.

Don’t forget your turtle neck (what a neck)

Another hat upon your upper deck. (that’s your head)

We know we look obese, so would you with this much fleece!

But onward we must go!

Sound off! Sound off!

One two, one two, one two three four five six seven eight!

Through rain or sleet or dark of night,

We’re going left. I’m listing right!

Through the freezing winter fog, help me out, tie up your dog!

Give it a stamp. Give it a tag and stick it in my mail bag!

Then we’ll march on delivering the mail.

Yes, we’ll march on and never ever fail.

We cannot let you down. We are ready to go,

Marching always marching though the winter wind may blow!

Yes, we’ll march on delivering the mail.

Marching on over hill and snowy trail.

You really ought to know that I am a postal pro.

We march through the rain and sleet and snow.

We’ll march on delivering the mail, the mail, the mail!

Scene 7

Weatherman: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, Storm Watch here, your friendly weatherman.

All: Boo!

Weatherman: Don’t boo the messenger, folks. I don’t make the weather. I just report it.

Whiny Student: But Mr. Watch, it’s been snowing for days! When is it going to stop?

Weatherman: I have no idea, kid. But I think I do know exactly what this show needs right about now.

All: What’s that?

21 of 27

Scene 7 Continued

Weatherman: We need a big snow-stopping number!

Student 1: A big ‘snowstopper’! What a great idea.

Student 2: But I LOVE the snow!

All: We ALL love the snow!

Littlest Postal Worker: (can’t see him) Hello! Hello! I’m stuck in here!

(All look at him and go right on talking)

Student 3: There are just so many things we can do in the snow!

Student 4: Look out!!

(A group of Curlers come across the stage sweeping their brooms on the floor.)

All: Curling!

Student 5: Don’t let the snow stop, Mr. Weatherman! We’re having so much fun!

22 of 27

Song 7: Don’t Let the Snow Stop

Don’t let the snow stop. Put away the sun.

Don’t let the snow stop. The joy has just begun.

Everything will be alright when everything is covered in white.

Don’t let the snow stop, cause we’re having fun!

We’ll meet our friends on top of the hill.

Downhill skiing, oh what a thrill!

Sledding would be out of sight, or we’ll all ride in a sleigh tonight.

Fill the sleigh with loads of hay.

What a day to jingle all the way! Hey!

See our horse all dappled and gray.

He doesn’t know stop, so get out of his way!

Bring your sled and let’s go slide.

Let’s go sliding side by side.

Down onto the frozen lake, oh look out now!

We have no brakes!

Skiing, how we love skiing.

We woosh and swoosh and slalom to and fro.

Look out below! Look out below! Look out below! AHHHH

Solo Sledder: Oh my, we’re upsot.

We’re looking for some winter fun.

We’ve room for you and everyone.

We’re sitting in the ice and snow, all snuggled in a cozy row.

We’d dearly love a little shove, and then we could begin.

To do the toboggan, do the toboggan, do the toboggan tango.

Do the toboggan, do the toboggan, do the toboggan tango.

Lean left, lean right, hold on with all your might!

The wind doth blow, my face is full of snow!

Let’s do the tango, toboggan tango.

Everybody! Do the toboggan, do the toboggan, do the toboggan tango.

Do the toboggan, do the toboggan, do the toboggan tango.

Do the toboggan, the toboggan tango!

Student 6: Lookout here they come again!

It’s freezing out, so what do you think?

Let’s get together at the skating rink.

And maybe with any luck, someone will show up with a puck.

Oh we love hockey. Yes, we love hockey,

The face-off and the slap shot and the skates

Yes we find icing, oh, so enticing,

and all the frenzy of the excitement it creates.

You see we’re stocky, so we love hockey,

A helmet and some padding underneath.

A power play! What can we say?

It doesn’t matter that we’ve knocked out all of our teeth!

We have no teeth!

Penalty! How can that be a penalty?

I have an alibi. I never touched the guy!

He’s moving slowly. Oh he’s the goalie.

He took a hockey puck right in the neck.

His life he gave, to make a save.

He made that save and someone gave a body check!

This is exciting. We’re always fighting,

But when we’ve fallen someone picks us up.

Though we play schlocky, we still love hockey,

And maybe someday we will get to win

The Stanley Cup! The Stanley Cup! The Stanley Cup!

Don’t Let the Snow Stop Continued

Student 7: One more time!

Don’t let the snow stop. Put away the sun.

Don’t let the snow stop. The joy has just begun.

Everything will be all right when everything is covered in white.

Don’t let the snow stop, cause we’re having fun!

Oh we love snow biz, that wicky wacky winter snow biz!

Oh, everyday we hope and pray for more!

We love the season, and winter is the snowy reason.

It’s time for us to stop the snow

We’d really like to stay but we have to snow.

Runners! Mark! Ready! Snow!

Let’s go on with the snow.

Oh, snow biz, snow biz, snow biz!

On with the snow! Snow Biz!
