  • There are two ways to add usage data to Alma

1.  Manual upload

2.  SUSHI harvesting

How to manually upload usage

  • Search for vendor.
  • Retrieve user name and password to access usage data.
  • Download usage from vendor website.
  • Save usage to desktop.
  • Upload File to ALMA.
  • Check Missing Data tab to verify usage.

  • SUSHI stands for Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) Protocol.

Managing SUSHI Accounts

  • SUSHI accounts enable ALMA to automatically retrieve COUNTER reports from vendors. You create a SUSHI account for each vendor and for each report type; a single vendor may require multiple SUSHI accounts, one for each report type.

COUNTER 5 TYPES OF REPORTS

PR P1 Platform usage shows total and unique item requests, as well as platform searches.

DR D1 Database search and item usage shows total and unique item investigations and requests, as well as searches per database.

DR D2 Database access denied shows instances of denied access.

TR B1 Book requests shows full text downloads for book chapters.

TR B2 Book access denied.

TR J1 Journal requests shows full text activity for journals that are not Gold Open Access.

TR J2 Journal access denied.

IR M1 Multimedia item requests show total item requests for multimedia item requests.

TYPES OF USAGE METRICS

  • There are several different types of usage metrics in Release 5, which break down into investigations and requests.
  • An investigation is tracked when a user performs any action in relation to a content item or title, while a request is specifically related to viewing or downloading the full content item.
