Layout Notes

For cost control, please follow the layouts shown on the following pages for each floorplan to keep the number of 4 x 8 Hardie panels to a minimum
Orientation of “wood grain” should be aligned per the views on the following pages
Depending on truss plan, some dead wood may be required for support or may be required in other locations than shown
Check to see if porch beam(s) is/are parallel to house

– Will adversely impact both porch ceiling panels and soffit installation if not

Note: Dimensions are inside-inside but may vary – Always measure and cut to fit

Appearance Matters

Since the porch is such a visible feature, the appearance of the fit and finish of the ceiling is important
Put factory edges together on visible joints and cut edges to the outside so

they are covered by the 1x4 trim

Avoid using too many fasteners – Recommend 16” spacing
Optional: To help with the appearance of joining factory edges together on the visible joints install a 2 x 4 laid flat across the back of the joint to receive the fasteners

– Note: To minimize sagging these cleats should be within 8” of a truss

Keep cleat within 8” of truss
