Spotlight on Specials
Preschool: students are using shapes and textures to create a snowman
Kindergarten: students learned about the shape HEART and sang songs to practice spelling, drawing and cutting a heart collage.
First Grade: students are continuing SEL with a focus on overcoming fears. We read “Be Brave Little Penguin,” and created a collage.
Second Grade: students created a “Trash House” inspired by African American artist Tyree Guyton from Detroit. He used art to unite his community, and bring color and pride to his neighborhood.
K - 2 STEM Update

Kindergarten students are being challenged by identifying 2-digit numbers using base 10 foundational skills!
Please keep the cereal boxes coming!
We are closing in on 90 boxes; thank you to all who have donated so far!! We need at least 150 boxes to run a successful domino rally. Please donate if you are able - full and unopened boxes please!!!!
Last day to donate will be Friday, March 31st.
Need to get rid of gallon-sized juice, milk or water jugs?
Thank you SO much to those who have been donating plastic milk and juice jugs!! Please keep them coming for the creation of a reading “igloo” that will be showcased and used at our STEM/ELA Engagement Night in April! The finished “igloo” will look something like this…

Calling all OE parents and families!

We need your participation - please consider joining the OE School Governance Council (SGC)!
SGC is a group of parents, school staff, and community members working together to improve student achievement. SGCs serve in an advisory capacity to assist the school administration. SGCs are primarily parent led. So we need YOU! Meetings will be held in the evenings (virtually for now) and are usually about an hour.
