Some of this information is taken from previous creative stuff I’ve done with a limited level editor, but applied to power point, conceptual is probably taken from previous knowledge, stuff that relies on power point not.
How to simulate if checks/track variables is by giving players a “code” over time if they do a good job, and then you check that “code” with a keypad, it can be symbols or numbers doesn’t really matter, like you learn throughout different slides the code is 6969, the game wants to check if you finished all previous levels and at level end you get part of the code and it’s ordering, so you enter 6969 if you know it, anything else and fail if you don’t.
Despite there being no variables you are able to track variables by making multiple slides/sets of slides, this is if a code would be too annoying (shootemup), or if the amount of slides is limited enough to not matter. The upper amount of slides (big O) is the maximum number of each variable multiplied by each other. For example, you have a location variable (5 locations), and a time variable which ends at 25, so you multiply 5 by 25 and get 125 total slides maximum (maybe some locations can’t be accessed at certain times so it could be lower).
Powerpoint is weird with retaining some states after you leave a slide, like with the exploding flower in 2d world, this is also probably why shootemup is semi buggy.
