Game Description

When Pigs Fly is a game about a pig who gains the ability to fly. The pig’s goal is to fly across several areas of terrain to reach their home, which is a barn. The pig will have to travel through various areas while avoiding different enemies.

The objective of When Pigs Fly is to fly through different levels without dying to enemies. Players control the pigs movement and must traverse the skies for a certain period of time without dying. The primary goal is to complete all levels without dying to enemies.

Game Mechanics

The gameplay involves navigating the screen using basic movement keys, such as up, down, left, and right.

Key mechanics include a health bar, which will decrease every time a player takes damage from an enemy, and a timer which tells the player how long they must survive in the level.

Additionally, each enemy ai has its own unique movement such as, jumping upwards, falling downwards, and gliding right to left.

Technical Description

When Pigs Fly was written in Pygame, which is a set of Python modules designed for writing video games. The game runs at a consistent 60 frames per second.

When Pigs Fly was developed as a 2D-Game and can run on most platforms and operating systems due to being developed in Pygame.

Controls

The controls involve using the arrow keys to move your character across the screen. The UP arrow moves the Pig up, the DOWN arrow moves the pig down, the LEFT arrow moves the pig left, and the RIGHT arrow moves the pig right.

Game Limitations

Future Work

Future iterations might incorporate environmental challenges in each level and a stamina bar that the Pig must replenish to continue flying.

Players can strategically utilize the pig’s movement to avoid enemies as they appear onscreen.

Firstly, the games sense of realism is limited due to the use of various different artworks for characters and backgrounds. I used various online sources to find artwork for my game and not all of it fits into the world of When Pigs Fly. Also lacks extra enemies and challenges due to time constraints. I did not have enough time to implement all the features I wanted which created a lack of challenge in each level.
