Process Improvements

  • Time to Make Prosthetic
    • Funding Fido currently averages 3 to 4 weeks to complete a prosthetic… purchasing two 3D printers could cut time in half
  • Cost of Prosthetic
    • The cost to make a prosthetic using a 3D printer is significantly less than materials needed to hand-craft them. So the purchase of a 3D printer could not only allow us to make more prosthetics a month, but also lower the cost to make them, and therefore increase our profit margin.
  • Reimbursement
    • Instead of compensating for mileage, Funding Fido will ship impression kit and finished product to the client to avoid the reimbursement cost. The shipping cost will be less on average than the reimbursement cost.

Business Problem

  • The time it takes to manufacture and ship the prosthetic molding to the customer.
  • The lengthy process times to process new prosthetic legs
  • Mistakes customers may make in regards to measuring the specific area were the prosthetic leg will be placed

14 of 19

Business Requirements

  • Completing and sending the owner the Prosthetic leg as quickly as possible
  • Limiting the percentage of errors on the prosthetic leg not being the correct fit

15 of 19

Proposed Solution #1

  • To decrease time, have express shipping for both sending kit to owner and owner sending measurements back to our office.
  • This will help us save an average of 2-5 days

16 of 19

Proposed Solution #2

  • Step by step written instruction manual and video
  • Help the owner know how to take proper measurements
  • Help reduce the risk of having to create another prosthetic
  • Won’t help with reducing time

17 of 19

Proposed Solution #3

  • Send in two impression kits to eliminate user errors
  • Allow customers to provide recorded evidence addressing their specific concerns
  • Allow commentary and conflicts to be mailed to the company. This allows us to promptly resolve conflicts and adapt to concerns

The best solution would be picking #2, which is sending them instruction manuals to eliminate wrong measurements.

This is good for the company because it is more costly to prepare another prosthetic than to send them instruction manuals.
