Objective :

To survive a year long mission on Mars pre-constructed habitat.

Keywords

Potential consideration :

  • Obtain & maintain basic survival needs (breathable air, drinkable water, edible food)

  • To have the suitable tools to assist maintaining and keeping the habitat intact

  • Designing a replacement rover wheel inspired by the designs on ARC 3D models of Perseverance.

Multi-Purpose Furniture

Idea :

Our idea is simply to get integrated furniture with very few raw materials to provide it with a strong structure

You can also store luggage or supplies in the designated area.

Machining :

We worked on the design on the SolidWorks program where we transformed our ideas with an executable model according to the 3D printers having the same specifications of the challenge and due to the small size of these specifications we divided the parts into smaller parts within the limits of the allowed printer dimensions and we used a system similar to the puzzle pieces with the use of a solid and stable joint where it prevents movement in all directions and we used the merging route where we designed the structure of steel iron and plastic panels.

  • The rover helps us to easily maneuver between different places and transportation in the habitat and to explore further places. One of the rover wheels were damaged and needs to be replaced for the rover to operate properly

  • We designed a replacement wheel for the rover based on the Perseverance Rover design provided on the ACR 3D models

Having a multi-purpose tool is very efficient material wise and where we will put multiple tools (screwdrivers, pliers, cutting saws, knives, etc.)

We also implemented a contactless voltage sensor to assist the maintenance of electrical appliances in the habitat.
