The Lord’s Prayer
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ (NIV)

“Our Father in Heaven” reminds us of God’s position in the heavens. He is in control. How can this give you peace and confidence as you pray?
7.
“Hallowed be your name,” tells us to worship God and praise him for who he is. When we focus on him, all else is put into perspective. What attributes of God are you thankful for?

“Your kingdom come: Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” guides us to pray for God’s plan to be accomplished in our lives, not our plans. We want to see his power, position, and presence evident on Earth so change will occur. What change would you like to see God do on earth?

“Give us today our daily bread” is a way to ask God for the things we need today and to trust him for tomorrow’s needs. What do you need today from God?
10.
“Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors” reminds us to confess our sins to God, turn from them, and ask for forgiveness. What might you need to confess to God today? Who might you need to forgive?
11.
“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one” is a plea for help in achieving victory over sin and for protection from Satan’s attacks. What temptation do you need to pray you don’t give in to?
