Community Care moment.

Have you had water today? Tea?

A moment of silence?

Did you stretch? Have you seen the sky? Have you taken a deep breath today? Can we do it now? Are you comfortable? Can you hear my voice? You can close your eyes. What are you grateful for? You can slow down. You can just be.

Tenets of The Nap Ministry

Rest is a form of resistance because it disrupts and pushes

back against capitalism and white supremacy.

Our bodies are a site of liberation.

Naps provide a healing portal to imagine, invent and heal.

Our DreamSpace has been stolen and we want it back. We will reclaim it via rest.

Freedom Dreaming

“Freedom dreaming starts with asking questions, often the same questions, over and over, allowing ourselves to get deeper each time. Coming out of the long tradition of Freedom Schools, I focused on these three questions as an organizer: What does the dominant culture have that we want?⁣ What does the dominant culture have that we don’t want?⁣ What do we have that we want to keep?⁣ These days, it is the third question that preoccupies me” -Filmmaker and Activist Tourmaline on How to Freedom Dream,” Vogue, Jul. ‘20

To heal our wounded body politic we must reaffirm our commitment to a vision of what King referred to in the essay "Facing the Challenge of a New Age" as a genuine commitment to "freedom and justice for all." My heart is uplifted when I read King's essay; I am reminded where true liberation leads us. It leads us beyond resistance to transformation. King tells us that "the end is reconciliation, the end is redemption, the end is the creation of the beloved community."

The moment we choose to love we begin to move against domination, against oppression. The moment we choose to love we begin to move towards freedom, to act in ways that liberate ourselves and others. That action is the testimony of love as the practice of freedom.”
