Disaggregation by Race

Black students are slightly overrepresented (1.3 times) among students who reported low ratings of positive school climate, a low sense of belonging, and low ratings of positive representation in school pictures, materials, topics, and events.

Indigenous students are 1.5 times more likely to report a low sense of belonging and are slightly more likely (1.2 times) to report low ratings of positive school climate than their presence in the overall HDSB student population would predict.

Latinx students are slightly more likely (1.2 times) to report low ratings of positive representation in school pictures, materials, topics, and events than their presence in the overall HDSB student population would predict.

Gender diverse students are approximately 2 times more likely to report low ratings of positive school climate, a low sense of belonging, and low ratings of positive representation in school pictures, materials, topics, and events compared to their representation in the overall HDSB student population and compared to their girl/woman and boy/man students.

Disaggregation by Sexual Orientation

Students who selected options in the sexual diversity* category are 1.5 times more likely to report low ratings of positive school climate, low ratings of positive representation in school pictures, materials, topics, and events, and are almost 2 times more likely to report a low sense of belonging compared to their representation in the overall HDSB student population and compared to heterosexual students.
