社会福祉法人福田会は、1876年に創立され、日本で最初の児童養護施設の運営を開始しました。
現在は、東京の広尾にて児童養護施設、障害児入所施設、高齢者施設等を運営しています。
Fukudenkai is a social welfare corporation established in 1876
as the first children’s home in Japan.
We currently operate children’s homes, residential facilities for children with disabilities, nursing homes, based in Hiroo, Tokyo.

福田会はポーランドと深いつながりがございますが、最初のきっかけをくださったのは本日ご列席いただいておりますヤドヴィガ・ロドヴィッチ元駐日ポーランド共和国大使です。
Fukudenkai keeps the strong ties with Poland today.
The initial connection of Fukudenkai and Poland
was discovered by Mrs. Jadwiga Rodowicz,
former ambassador of Poland to Japan,
who also attends the events today.

2010年、ロドヴィッチ大使が福田会の前を偶然通りかかり、�「この福田会はあの“ふくでんかい”ですか？」と尋ねてこられました。
Back in 2010, Mrs. Rodowicz
happened to pass by Fukudenkai, and she asked, “Is this Fukudenkai, known for its support for the the Siberian Children?”

当時の職員は誰も何のことか分かりませんでしたが、このことをきっかけに歴史の中に埋もれていたシベリア孤児滞在の事実が発見されることとなりました。
Fukudenkai staff in those days had no idea about the ambassador’s remark.
Therefore this led to the discovery of the fact that the Siberian Children had stayed there,
which had not been recognized at all
among staff in Fukudenkai.

福田会には、シベリア孤児が滞在していた際に�集合写真を撮影した斜面が現在も残っています。
日本で、シベリア孤児に関する場所が現存している�のは福田会だけです。�この斜面はシベリア孤児の史実とポーランド・日本の友好関係を象徴する場所の1つとなっています。
The slope where the group photo of the Siberian Children was taken still remains in Fukudenkai.
This is the only place remaining in Japan
which relates the Siberian Children.
It is one of the places that proves the historical fact of the Siberian Children, and symbolizes the long friendship between Poland and Japan.

2019年にアガタ・コルンハウゼル＝ドゥダ ポーランド共和国大統領令夫人、�2021年にアンジェイ・ドゥダ ポーランド共和国大統領が福田会を公式訪問された際には、�この斜面で記念撮影を行いました。
The commemorative photos were taken there
when Mrs. Agata Kornhauser-Duda, the First Lady of the President of the Republic of Poland made her official visit to Fukudenkai in 2019,
as well as when Mr. Andrzej Duda,
the President of the Republic of Poland made his official visit to Fukudenkai in 2021.

ほかにも、ポーランドからのお客様がいらっしゃる際には�毎回この斜面で写真を撮っています。
When there are guests from Poland, �it is a custom to take photos in this historical slope.

また、2016年より、ポーランドの団体“Hope for Mundial”からご招待を受け、�「児童養護施設の子どもたちのためのサッカーワールドカップ」に毎年参加しています。
We have participated in the “World Cup of Children in Care Homes” every year since 2016, receiving an invitation from the Polish organization “Hope for Mundial”.

福田会を含む東京の児童養護施設の児童でチームを作り「東京フレンズ」としてポーランドへ渡航しています。�コロナウイルスの影響で2020年から参加できていませんが、来年こそは出場したいと子どもたちも張り切っています。
A team made with the children from children’s home around Tokyo (including Fukudenkai) travel to Poland
as team “Tokyo Friends”.
Due to the Covid-19, we have not participated the games since 2020, however the children are waiting
for the chance next year.

このサッカーワールドカップで、最初の年の初戦で対戦したのがウクライナチームでした。
翌年もウクライナチームと対戦し、子どもたち同士で言語の壁を越えた交流をしていました。
In the first world cup that “Tokyo Friends” participated, the first match was against the team from Ukraine.
Both teams met again the following year, and the children had a cultural exchange regardless of the language differences.

2022年2月より開始したウクライナ侵攻により、多くのウクライナ人女性や子どもたちがポーランドへと避難していることを受け、福田会ではポーランドでのウクライナ避難民支援を行っています。
Fukudenkai has been supporting displaced people from Ukraine in Poland due to the Russian aggression
since February 2022.

福田会はクラクフにポーランド支部を構えており、日本で集めた寄付を送金し、クラクフを中心として避難民の方々へ物資や温かい食事の提供、冬服を購入するための商品券配布といった支援を続けてきました。
Fukudenkai has a representative office based in Krakow. Donations collected in Japan are transmitted and used for supporting Ukrainians in Krakow. Provided supports include daily meals, vouchers for restaurants, ingredients for the daily cookings and support for purchasing winter clothes.

日本での寄付金は1億2,000万円を超えており、敦賀市や登米市といったポーランドにゆかりのある自治体からの寄付のほか、これまで2回のクラウドファンディングやウクライナ人歌手によるチャリティーコンサートなどを実施しています。
We have received donations over 120 million yen（over 800 thousand dollars), including donations from the city of Tsuruga and the city of Tome which are cities with strong ties with Poland as well as donations from two crowdfunding project and charity concerts by Ukrainian singers.

ウクライナ侵攻の開始当初、ポーランドでは多くの方がウクライナ避難民を自宅に受け入れるなどの�対応をしていたと聞いています。
シベリア孤児救済事業から100年が経過した今、�当時ポーランドの孤児を受け入れた施設として、�ポーランドに避難されている方々にできることはないかと考え、支援活動を行うことを決めました。
After the invasion of Russia started, it was reported that many families in Poland hosted the Ukrainian evacuees in their homes.
A century has passed since the Siberian Children arrived in Japan, and as the organization hosted them,
we decided to provide support for the Ukraine people
who fled their country.

これまでは物資の支援を中心に行ってきましたが、�これからは自立支援に切り替え、特に必要性が高まっているビジネスポーランド語などの語学研修の実施を予定しています。
Since then we have mainly focused on the “first-aid support” by providing them with products to live better in Poland. However, we are going to shift our support mainly to provide the materials for their self-reliance, such as hosting Polish lessons in a business context.

ポーランドでの取り組みとして、シベリア孤児に関するパネル巡回展をポーランド各地で開催しています。本日、記念式典の会場の前に同パネル（ポーランド語）を展示しておりますので、後ほど是非ご覧ください。
Apart from the support for Ukrainians, we regularly organize panel exhibitions about the Siberian Children in various locations around Poland.

また、9月24日には、クラクフの日本美術技術博物館マンガ館にて、シベリア孤児帰国100年レリーフ除幕式を開催いたしました。
On September 24th, a ceremony was held at the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology in Krakow to unveil a relief commemorating the centenary of the return of the Siberian Children to Poland.

先ほどご説明したシベリア孤児集合写真を、半永久的に美しさを保つことのできる特殊技術を用いて陶板に焼き付けたものです。
こちらはマンガ館の入り口にて常時展示されることになっています。
The ceramic plate made with
the group photo of the Siberian Children is said to keep the beauty of its ceramic plate for semi-permanent thanks to its unique technic. The art is going to be exhibited at the entrance of the Manggha Museum.

2024年春には、福田会の壁に3m×5mのシベリア孤児陶板レリーフを設置し、記念式典を開催いたします。
このような活動により、シベリア孤児の史実がポーランドと日本の人々の記憶に残り、両国の友好の絆が今後もさらに発展していく一助となればと存じます。
In spring 2024, the ceramic plate with the size of 3m x 5m is planned to be placed on the wall of the Fukudenkai office during the ceremony in Japan.
We hope that our activities will spread the historical fact of the Siberian Children in Polish and in Japanese,
and contribute to deepen the friendship
between the two countries.

We would like to keep the relationship built here today as well as the relationship between the descendants of the Siberian Children that should help to pass the historical facts of the Siberian Children on to the next generation.
